Hmmm. . . I wonder if that whole battery in/battery out thing isn't psychological. I will have to try that with my L2K and psyche myself out - I mean hear if there's a difference.![]()
In retrospect, I've decided to keep the battery installed. I do find that I quite enjoy the active and active+treble boost mode when playing in a live situation.
Both modes give a greater amount of note punch & treble kick over passive mode - it may be a bit aggressive when playing solo or practicing/recording at home (especially active+treble boost mode), but both of those two options are very handy on-the-fly tone adjustments that work very, very well in a full band context.

Thanks! I was extremely torn between the Redburst or Blueburst, but the moment I pulled it from the box - I knew I had made the right choice (for me).
That maple neck really sets off the finish, but I still
over the Blueburst whenever I see pics of it. I'm hopelessly corrupted by Talkbass GAS.
