G&L Club Part 7

Feeling very fortunate! Just put this L-1000 on layaway, should be getting it in about 2 weeks. Believe it is a 1980, will be able to confirm once I get it.

Gorgeous!!! I’d love another ‘80/‘81 L1000. I owned one new back then but foolishly sold it. Yours looks brand new. What a find. Best of luck with it.

Nice score.
That looks correct for a 1980 except for the knobs and it's nice to get a matching bridge and control plate. Most 81's would have the slot pole MFD. Mine are 1980 fretless and 1981 fretted.

HA! The stars must be aligning! I just tried a set out last weekend on a Kilo and they are killer strings! Lot's of zip and grit but, can be mellow with a tone adjustment. I really like how they feel and will be picking up a set for a few of my G&L's and Peavey's in the near future.

Currently, my favorite strings are DR Pure Blues for bright (not brittle) dynamics.
+1 from another Pure Blues fanboy. That is what I use for rounds. I use TI's for flats. My SB-2T has Pure Blues and I get comments on the tone a lot.

Nice to see all the love for Pure Blues, because I recently bought a set for my JB-5. I stopped into a local, relatively low-end shop not expecting to find decent strings for a five, and was pleasantly surprised. One of the JB-5's tuners needs to be replaced, and when the new one arrives from G&L I'm going to install the Pure Blues and do a full setup. (I know guitar strings are a different ballgame, but I love Pure Blues on my Strat and Comanche.)

I don't remember which strings are on my SB-2 now, but my faves for that bass have been Fat Beams.
