if you follow the thread he updates it periodically. Then if you see something you like, get on the horn to Greg @RocketMusic quickly and he often intervene to get that bass into your hands.

I do follow that thread, just been a while since I looked at it... I did look at the Rocket Music site last night, although they had only a handful of G&L basses in stock. But, they did have an Emerald Green metallic LB100 that caught my eye

Wow that is outstanding! I would love to try a mahogany L2K. Are they slightly deeper and darker sounding?

hahahaha funny enough Im eye balling another G&L. It's an SB-2...I'm just trying to find a video of one being played in a rock setting. It's what convinced me to trade one of my Spectors for my current G&L bass :D

Well, here's an SB-1 being rocked out by Gord Sinclair of the Tragically Hip: one of the finest rock bands to emerge out of Canada in a long time. Alas, we lost their great frontman Gord Downie to brain cancer a while back. Still makes me a little teary when I hear them. Anyway, Sinclair played an older SB-1 through most of the Hipsters long run and it always sounded great. Real nice look at 32:20.

LB100.. more classic "P" sound
SB1 ... more modern and cutting??

Absolutely right about the LB100...the SB's, well they have that MFD pickup sound. Very hard to describe if you've not played one of the G&Ls with those pickups. Full up the SB's P-pickup is (my sense so forgive me) organic, rich, chewy...some people might say gritty but I think that's a disservice. Unique certainly. And...if you cut back the volume on an SB the P-pickup becomes more classically P-sounding. I have an SB-2 that I modded to add a tone control and it's quite marvelous in its range of MFD-tinged tones—completely different than my LB-100.

First heard the Hip while on a bike ride up to Montreal about 15 or so years ago and New Orleans is Sinking came on the stereo of my Goldwing. When I got home I looked them up, have bought 4 or 5 of their albums now. Its not often I hear of others listening to them unless I'm up north for work.

they never caught on in the states I guess
