G&L Club Part 7

Are you referring to this one? G&L basses in-stock at the factory?

I did NOT need to see that list...

I realise this is purely a visual thing but I'd like to be able to buy the metal control plate to put on both my mid 90's L2000 basses. I realise a stock one won't fit, I just really like the look!!!
I would also love to see a CLF 5 string with an eye gouger 4+1 headstock.. Again will probs never happen!!!

On a different note - in regards to the adjustable pole pieves on the L2x00 basses - at any stage were these pickups produced that didn't have adjustable poles? I absolutely can not get mine to budge and fear if I force them any harder than I ever have I'll start stripping out the centre holes (both mine have hex adjustment holes). Just thought I'd ask.

i just listened to day for night yesterday...

i'm in indianapolis, so, they made it a little ways across the border...

First heard the Hip while on a bike ride up to Montreal about 15 or so years ago and New Orleans is Sinking came on the stereo of my Goldwing. When I got home I looked them up, have bought 4 or 5 of their albums now. Its not often I hear of others listening to them unless I'm up north for work.

I only have L shaped hex wrenches at this stage.
I'll have another play tonight after work.
It just always feels like the centre will strip out before the pole will turn.

I was at shop last week and saw some of the bodies coming out of spray booth with this finish. It's a really nice trans red finish, kinda glows.

It's happening right now. I ordered a custom shop L2500 in the summer, but when I saw that a CLF 2500 was now an option I changed my order to that. But, because I ordered a Modern C5 neck with binding, they were having trouble with binding where the neck meets the headstock. I asked if they could just do an "eye gouger" headstock and that was the solution.

That was over three weeks ago. And before that I heard through my dealer that it was shipping soon. So now I'm stuck in the purgatory of not having a clue how much longer I have to wait, while checking G&L's posts every day to see if I spot my bass.

Oh nothing much. There was the Lee bass. That was ok. Oh, and the pharaoh gold finish is just wow. Met the nice ladies that wind pickups. And some nice wood supply. Just normal stuff.

The BBC called The Tragically Hip "The Most Canadian Band In The World". According to them:

"The Hip never penetrated American consciousness, conversely. Nine of their albums have reached number one on the music charts in Canada; they have never broken even the top 100 in the US. They are even more obscure internationally. As a result, the band is like a secret handshake for Canadians, a way to establish an exclusive commonality among anyone between the ages of roughly 15 and 45. It helped that the Hip never seemed to care much about becoming worldwide superstars. They appeared once on Saturday Night Live - introduced by fellow Canadian Dan Ackroyd -and toured the US many times. But their base was always in Canada and they never left home for long periods of time."

Their music was rooted in our mythology up here and they were a national treasure—as was frontman Gord Downie. Their shows were bootlegged like Bob Dylan's. They're much-missed.

Use a good fitting wrench, maybe a VERY small amount of penetrating oil like WD-40, or Kroil

This ^^^. "Penetrating oil" will likely work better than WD-40 as it's purpose-designed. Agreed, use a TINY amount and give it an hour or two of sit-time with the guitar lying on its back. Wipe up any spills.

NBD yesterday! I have been playing the SB-2 Tribute I picked up a few months ago and it's great for the various covers my work band does. I'm very happy with the range of sounds I can get from it. I still wanted to try a USA G&L but thought of that as a "someday" proposition... until this showed up in the classifieds. I held out for a couple days but it was mint (in more ways than one ), the price was right, and I couldn't stop looking at it (especially the grain on the fretboard)... so here we are!

2018 SB-1, surf green, basswood / chechen. Neck looks quartersawn though it's not on the spec sheet—I recall seeing posts here that G&L was doing this—standard nut (1 ⅝") & profile (9.5"). 8 lbs 10 oz on a kitchen scale. Needs a little setup and different strings for my preferences but I've got whatever the opposite of buyer's remorse is.

Damn, that's a sweet bass. I was hoping to snap that one up, but we were waiting on the sale of our back lot which we just subdivided. It sold yesterday, so I'm too late.
