Himalayan blue.
Your pic is consistent with every example I've seen of that color.

That's excellent to hear. Nearly every single time I've read about Empress, the word resonant has come up. I'm beyond excited.

I've spent the last two weeks going between my M2500 and my Ibanez ATK fretless during daily practice sessions (trying to get my fretless chops back up to par).

It made me think if a 3 way switch like the ATK uses could be paired with an MFD. So for each pickup either front coil, rear coil, or both coils could be selected. That seems more useful than series and parallel personally.

Not trying to mod my M just curious

I agree. And in both coil mode using parallel. I still don't get the series switch usefulness. It's just too much with out cutting a lot of bass for me.

I'd stick with series personally (M pickups are wired series anyway)

I have an identical Himalayan SB-2 with similar damage at the same location thank you Fedex. Of course it's right where my forearm rests. Bass is flawless otherwise. I'm going to relice it there.

I was also thinking of sanding mine there to make it look more like a wear mark. Share a pic if you do so!

It could work.
BUT, depending on which coils are selected, it MIGHT not be "humbucking" and would be VERY noisy.
I'm just thinking out loud, and welcome anyone else's input.

Oh interesting. I wonder if that works better on the M? I believe the M pickups aren't as hot as the L2Ks?

For me, I'd only use series on the L2K with the bridge pickup soloed. Might be me, but the sound is just not very clear without cutting most of the bass out.

I think it's just a preference thing. I can't really remember how I had my L set (it's been gone 11 years now). That was part of the reason I sold it!

You're definitely touching on many of the wonders G&L ownership... Outstanding build, stunning finicshes, poor resale, incredibly awesome used selections, are all things the most of us love and cherish.

As for the recent issues, yes, recent is the key. If your builds are anything over two years old, then the wheels hadnt fallen off the cart yet... Although, a couple of older truss rod issues have occurred.

As for the used market... So many mint used models exist, because in my exp, it takes a few builds to really find your sweet spot and what you want, so all of those trial and error basses wind up on Reverb!

All I can say so far is that my experience with G&L customer service has been stellar! Memo is an awesome human!
