My MJ-5 is being shipped from Rocket music. I imagine it will take around a week. I'll post pics and a review when I get it.

I'm playing my Tangerine Metallic LB-100 right now... its MUCH better in person, trust me.
Yessir, I'd say that is accurate IME/IMHO.
That empress wood cherry burst MJ-5 was the link I provided on the last page, but didn't make it very clear.

I find it ironic (?) that seansbrew is buying an mj-5 from rocket music when he lives in Mesa (maybe half hour away from Peoria on a good traffic day), while I've bought an M2500 from Bass Place and was discussing with them about availability and price of MJ-5 and I'm quite a ways from either store.

I have another newb question.
When I mention I like G&L necks,specifically the 5 string neck which is their #10 C neck 12"radius and string spacing at the bridge 17mm based on my measuring, why do music store employees mention 'baseball bat' necks.
What exactly is that term meant to convey? No baseball bat has a radius curve of 12"
And what measurements make for a typical Fender Precision Neck and Jazz Neck. I look at Fender American Deluxe Jazz 5 and its string spacing is 19mm at the bridge and some people say they prefer a jazz neck to a G&L neck because its thinner or narrower or ??? What dimensions are they referring to?

I bought a Black Ice M2500 quite a while ago because of reduced price, maple fretboard, satin neck finish. Too many things lined up for me to resist.
They still have a M2000 Black Ice at reduced price. I guess the Black Ice model didn't go over all that well, but I dearly love mine.
Then when I tried different strings with those MFD pickups I got such a different instrument on my hands, I thought I'd get another to just put different strings on it, so was looking at picking up a cheaper M2500 Tribute, but I liked the colors on the L2500 Tributes better and thought why not get some more tonal options and then I discovered Guitar Center used marketplace and picked up a used USA L2500 for a little more than I could get a new Tribute and by then I was kind of hooked.
I have quarter round LaBella's on the L2500 and they sound better every day.
I have DR Fat Beams on the M2500, but may switch back to GHS pressure wounds, but then when I play it I stay with what's on there.

I know lots of folks do - I occasionally drool over Modulus Js (they don't work for me but I like the concepts behind them) and can see the attraction of the highly figured tops with nothing cluttering them up. I'm just too cheap for the figured tops and like the "bling" (is it really bling? or just clutter?) of control plates and pickguards. I occasionally think about working out how to get some pickguards for my L-series but that would take time & money and I'm lazy and cheap
Very interesting. Empress wood is yet another name for one species of paulownia. A G&L five string that is under eight pounds is rather intriguing. I'm thinking if we lose that high mass bridge, put some lightweight tuners on it, we might come in under seven....

At 7.8lbs, I'm keeping the bridge.
