A deeper channel could be a solution for better access but maybe it could damage the headstock solidity so...anyway, finding a solution is not my problem.
My problem is that i have recently purchased a new Mj4 and i can't adjust truss rod because:
1- bad access for wrench key
2- bad edges in the nut ( seller has checked truss rod before sending me bass, that's probably the reason )
Result is that key don't grip.

G&l asked my serial numbers. Hope they could fix the problem by asking me to return them the neck and sending me back an operational new one.
( i thought to ship neck to luthier to dig channel and replace nut but nut is welded
)Otherwise, i would be forced to return bass to seller and would loose money i gave for duty ( i live in France )

Except this matter, it's a great sounding bass with a convincing pbass sound once molded with preamp. Both pickups together sounds great too, solid and sweet with a compression in slap on D and G strings. Due to the lack of tone control, difficult to reproduce Jaco's tone but bridge pickup sounds well too.

besides the truss rod issue (all be it a big one)my SB-2 is great.
It plays great and sounds great - until the truss rod needs adjusted anyway.
I like that there is no tone control. I find it forces me to play with dynamics and the volume control to get different tones.
But it is a P bass on steroids with a second pickup to add to the tone. I find I never have the bridge pick up at 100%
I don't think there is a jazz bass tone in it.

I have a question regarding my L2000. The toggle for the active passive in the two fwd positions gives me a lot of Radio play when i remove my fingers from the strings. Is this a shielding issue? My amp is plugged into a ground strip. The gain is set to around 1 oclock on the dial.

Just noticed something on my 3-month-old G&L L-2500, there's no string-thru bridge! My other 2014 L-2500 has it, but i must be blind to have just noticed!

My 2013 L-2500 didn't come with the saddle lock screws. Bought the $14 metric screw set for it and haven't had the time to install it yet.

No need. Just the result of a streamlining process, leading to end a situation with technical, marketing and cost intertwining, that has taken 20 years or so to fix...

I had the same issue on my L-2000, I think it is either a shielding or grounding issue. I took it to Sweetwater since I live in Fort Wayne where they're HQ's are. Had shielding work done and now its dead quiet.

With all of what I can gather from others that sounds lie what the issue is.
What a paradigm shift I had today! I've owned a bunch of l2000/2500 tributes in the past and always ended up selling them off. I only ever used parallel or installed a single coil switch, and always with the controls maxed.
I recently bought a new one and played out with it tonight for the first time. I went through a Sansamp BDDI into a Carvin BX500 and then through an old Fender Baseman 610. I took some advice I read and put it in series mode with the bass all the way down, and then added bass again to taste. With the treble maxed and the bass at about 15% it sounded grindy and thick, without being boomy. I never used series before but I'm sold now!

Just randomly tried to go to G&L's website. Looks like it's down. Is it possible that they are updating it at long last?
Pray to science that they're finally updating their website. G&L's Facebook page always has good stuff, though.
the output is so strong with the sb-2 that i'm still getting ringing harmonics even with the foam mute
Volume pots wide open on the SB-2 (1997) gives me crazily brutal tone. Not really the tone I'm looking for. But the thing plays so nicely! I get those harmonics too if I don't strike the strings just so. Try backing off the volumes a bit. And maybe lower the pickups?
