Cool if thats the case then I'll just roll with it & grab some of those tools. My goal is to leave the flats on it for years so hopefully the neck \ strings just get settled in. I just love the flats & the LB-100 combo even though my Big Al SSS can do WAY more tones I find the LB-100s tone is perfect & I just get right to playing. Cant recommend it enough & it was cheap for a custom color, neck, neck finish.

The only problem with the ball end wrenches is that unless you get one with a ball on the short end, if the rod is tight, you can't get enough leverage to turn it.
I thought this truss rod up against the wall thing was something G&L fixed in the mid-2000's - I had an SB-2 once with that problem. Fixed it by opening the opening larger, but ouch, that shouldn't be needed. Is this a new model or one from back then? BTW, it was a great SB-2 other than that flaw.
The SB-2 I had that was built in May or so of 2013 had a perfectly routed channel and a rod that looked like it wasn't mounted as deep. But the one I got in March 2014 and the one I have now which is September 2014 both have the deeper set truss rod that has the wood in the way.
Could you possibly take a round file needle file to the channel?
Both my G&Ls that arrived a few months ago had a truss rod like that. Set deep, with some wood in the way. One had a missing signature on the custom build order sheet, and the other had the wrong model name on the custom order sheet. Both basses had the saddle lock screw and nylon insert missing. One of the basses had a bad preamp as well.
Greg @ Rocketmusic sent me both a new preamp and saddle lock screw sets, and I realize stuff like this CAN happen. Trussrods isn't a huge problem, they work just fine and adjusting with a ball-end key isn't too difficult. But I feel I've been a bit unlucky with these two, and I'm not the only one it seems. I've got a guitar due any day now, so I'm a bit excited to see if everything is okay with that one.
But, still... Once the preamp is replaced, that other stuff is just minor, and I REALLY love how the basses feel, sound and look. I'm still going to order more G&L's in the future, no doubt about that.

I have a Rotozip. I"ll have to test it to see if it will shave it down without leaving burn marks.

I can just barley get a wrench on mine and it looks like the hole was routed to big so the rod is off centre and someone filed some wood in the hole so you could get a wrench on it at all. I'm not really happily with this. Got it in November, we'll see what happens.

dang...I hadn't heard of any of those last few posts of quality control fails.
it's been...years..5...8? since I bought a new L2000 that had the same "trussrod adjuster route failures," and I made a whole string of phone calls to talk to someone who seemed interested in addressing that. bummer that it seems to still be going on...

My action is so perfect right now I'm not touching it. I could easily rotozip some access without a problem. Yeah it's something we shouldn't have to do but it's easier at this point
I just bought a new bass? It plays and sounds great but has a truss rod issue that I want to have fixed or it will drive me nuts. I have a 300 dollar squire that doesn't have this problem so a more expensive instrument shouldn't either - that's how I see it.
My LB-100 will be my last G&L. I'm finally at a place where I really like it, but it required a fret level, shielding and I had to turn the D/G pickup around because the G was too quiet unless the pickup was touching the string. Flipping the pickup around seemed to help.
I've just had too many G&L's in recent past that I've felt like they needed something fixed in order to put them where I feel like they should be from the factory. I'm tired.
