That thread is from 2016. The LB pickup move from the SB position to the P position is reported to have happened since then, possibly in 2017. I know this because I got corrected on this on this thread a couple of months back

Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, I seem to recall something about that, too. I am glad I have the pre-2017 placement then .

That matches the difference between pickup alignment on my MIJ Fender P and my USA SB2.

Based on the Guitars by Leo thread, I`d be confident saying yes.

GnL changed pickup supplier (from Gotoh to Seymour Duncan to in-house), the name, the construction (number of neck bolts) but not the pup position. It seems GnL moved the pup back to the `Fender position`in 2017, as it was pointed out.
I like the original choice of GnL to have a slightly hotter (500 extra windings) pup slightly closer to the bridge.

I am curious if GnL retained the 10500 winding count when they moved the pup back?

I’ve been a guitar player for a lot of years (decades to be honest) and recently got interested in the bass. Picked up an old Yamaha 6 months ago and since I’m enjoying the bass so much decided it was time for my first bass upgrade. After some advice on TB went with J bass setup and decided on the G&L Tribute JB. I’ve played it for an hour this evening and really like the neck and fretboard. She’s a beast though at 11 pounds! Thanks all!

Oooh. Dat's a chunky boy! There seems to be some variability in the weight of the Tribute basses: lot-to-lot variation in the wood I expect. Even with a J-bass's big body, you're up in Peavey T-40 territory.

I’m an acoustic 6 string guy so I thought the RBX was heavy, how little I knew! Glad my wife bought me a wide padded strap for Christmas.

I was just on Sweetwater's site where they typically post the weight of instruments they sell. There's no Tribute JB's available but the Fullerton Deluxe (US-made) versions are both 9.6 lbs, and alder-bodied like the Tributes—a lot more manageable than your 11-pounder. The Tributes have heavier tuning machines, but that's the only nomial difference weight-wise...

@RocketMusic and any interested, my June 27, 2016 LB-100 showed up today and the pickup is in the “traditional” p-bass position (11.5” to split between neck pickup or 3.75” from bridge side of D&G pickup to bridge), so the movement towards the neck was happening by the end of June 2016.

P-Bass itch is scratched. Strung with Sadowsky Blue Label flats, she sounds like she should.
I really like the body shape, by far my most comfortable bass to play while seated.
Alder, 9.1 lbs.
Ruby Red Metallic w/ wood binding looks killer!

Nice looking bass. Agreed on the binding. My L1505 is trans blue with maple wood binding& it really makes it pop.
