I don't think this ever got answered, but can anyone say if an SB-2 with just the neck (P MFD) pickup engaged sounds exactly like an SB-1?
I don't know the answer to this. But the fact that the SB1 has a tone knob and that the SB2 uses the J pickup as a tone knob guarantees that they will sound very different, in a practical sense. As soon as you reach for a "tone knob" on the SB1 or the SB2, you will get a different sound. That is the only logical answer.
Your question is probably more accurately asked in terms of the difference between an SB1 and an SB2T (SB2 with a factory tone knob). spent some quality time with my Tribute Fallout this morning.
Fixed some things that I'd been putting off, figuring I'd probably keep it not sell it.
Filed down and polished the fret ends (often neglected on an import), sanded the neck down and built back Casey's gunstock oil finish.
Feels like a keeper now, and so I took down my listing.
Had enough time to record a little demo/play thru of a classic song from Elvin Bishop.

I like the tone you get out of that bass Garry. Very sweet little bass you got there; I would have had trouble parting with it too.
Thanks so much for sharing this! So thick sounding. Other videos I've watched on this bass don't capture that.
Now I gotta get one ..

I can't find an overall length of the Fallout bass anywhere. Would you happen to have a tape measure available? I'm just curious because I'm finding that some shorter short scale basses can bother my bad shoulder even more than full scale. I think I'm going to be moving toward shorties with a further inboard bridge and medium scales.
Bow to stern, including strap button, is 43 3/4", based on my unscientific measurements

I actually do have an SB-2T. I was hoping to know how the 1 and 2 compare with the SB-2's bridge pickup completely off/muted.

Glad I found this discussion. My G&L has 3 tuners with open string buzz which can be stopped by lightly pinching the clover leaf... annoying. I'm hoping super glue will fix it.
You can try squeezing the shaft where the clover leaf sets in with some vice-grips, it might be enough.

Just received fretless L2000 transparent blue bass,with maple binding. In excellent shape,and real clean bass. Got in a discussion on it being a fretless bass,and some commented the fret lines in the neck,was looking like they were not filled and it had been defretted? There no evidence that it had been defretted,unless they knew what they were doing. Seller advised me it had not been defretted,but not a good answer as why the lines are cut into the neck and not filled
. Not familiar enough with fretless basses,and how they should look. Bought the bass from seller out north west. Mostly bought it cause loved the transparent blue finish,and am noticing has a nice flame maple neck,and neck is a quarter sawn neck also.
G&L calls (called?) those slots ghostlines. I've had them on at least one of the fretless G&Ls I've had.
Are they supposed to make it easier to get the fretless sound and play in tune?
