Noticed a conversation about the flame maple necks on G&L basses,noticed my 2004

L2000 blue burst,maple binding has the nice flame quarter sawn neck also. Not trying to be overbearing.

Do it. It's a unique instrument. Looks like a Stingray, but has its own unique tone. And the sleek body with a 1.5" nut width makes it my favorite G&L. And it's surprisingly versatile with the 3-way switch.

Going off serial #'s the -1000 is a 1980 and the -2000's are both 1982.

Beyond, of course, the lack of that butt-ugly fishhook headstock. (Sorry, but I just can't get used to them.)

Personally, I like the hook. But I also like the old headstock too. Some of those old G&L body shapes though...

I like what i call the headstock curlicues, but really can’t stomach the look of those partial control plates.
(Give me a pickguard or better yet just control knobs with nothing under them.)

I like the control plate when it’s black. Chrome is a little to flashy for me.
