Most people will say alder is a little softer/warmer/rounder, and ash is a little sharper, mid focused, punchier.
From what I've read in the big book, Leo did not have a preference, and used what was at hand unless there was an aesthetic difference-ie strpied ash for clear finishes.

Hi,
G&L's are pretty rare here, and they are sadly underrated.
Yuo do see a few L2000's here and there, but I prefer the Asat.
I play in an upcoming rockband with influences from indie and country.

I have an SB2, and a 51 reissue with an added J pup, both setup vol/vol like this.
I don't particularly miss the tone knob...to an extent you can use right hand positioning and technique as a tone knob...flats too

It is actually a stacked vol/vol and tone setup.

He was supposed to become a G&L dealer, they had made a verbal agreement or something, then G&L backed out at the last minute.
