Only thing heavy about it is the tone.

A lot of them are. Especially the older ones but they're not all heavy. They started using empress and those basses are super light.

In photos, they can look a bit odd, but I’m surprised how good-looking I find them in person.

Kiloton's are going for $1450 new at MF and G&L always seems to qualify for their discounts, so $1100 might not be a pipe dream, but I will guess $1250 street without any discounts.

The early G&L were heavy, my 83' L2k is 9 lbs+, never bothered me too much. Surprised to pick up new ones that feel a lot lighter.

Haha, it's the other way around for me. I'm a bit sad there aren't any contoured Mustang Basses. Glad we can now all get what we want.

The 5-string configuration is def. more pleasing to my eye. As are their color-match headstocks.

It seems more like the guitar headstock to me, which I don't think is just simply shrunk down from the bass or vice versa. Doesn't bother me at all though.
