Am I dreaming? This is badass!!! Like the love child of the L-1000 and LB-100.

Does anyone know if these are for sale yet? I want one!!!

I might order one here. Seems perfect for a fretless with the pickup position, etc.

Hmmm...here's an overlay of the L-1500 on the Kiloton using images from G&L's site. Then there's a Stingray image. Although the image analysis showed a near-complete line-up, the image suggests the pickup on the Stingray may be slightly closer to the neck. Pretty darned close, though.

I hope my local G&L dealer gets one. He is also the Music Man dealer, that Caprice might get some competition.

I think G&L should do a fretless version of this bass for a demo as well with ebony fingerboard, just imagine that pickup with a fretless ebony board, a fretless version of this bass would be so SERIOUS sounding.

I love G&L basses, but this just looks like another attempt to be an Ernie ball StingRay etc. Fender tried it with the Dimension bass to mixed reviews.

I own an American Deluxe HH Dimension(and various G&L's/Musicman's) and it doesn't sound like a Stingray/Sterling/Sabre. It cuts through similarly but has its own sound. Definitely Fender'ish.
The Kiloton seems too close to the L1500 to me. But we don't know if that pickup wound is different. So we'll have to just use our ears.

So it's like an L1000 with a pickguard and single tone control. How do you tame the low end without the bass knob?

Probably the same way you do on any passive bass?

I understand where you are coming from but I like the fact that this bass looks cleaner and less bulky than the dimension. It's a lean mean fighting machine. A fretless is what I want!

The Dimension is Far from bulky. I love my G&L SB-2, but it is not smaller than my Dimension. Both are very comfortable to play, and are my 2 favorite basses.

Same here, but chances are I'll probably never even SEE one. The only store in Montréal that still carried G&L recently stopped selling guitars and basses entirely - they only focus on drums and percs now. I ordered and bought my LB-100 there about a year ago, just in time. There are very few other stores in the province that carries G&L, they are disappearing.

Hmm... A passive bass with volume, tone and a switch that does parallel/single/series on a single humbucking pickup in the Stingray sweet spot (+/- .25")?
Hey! That's the exact same layout as the 1983 Ibanez RB820/RB920.

The G&L is a really nice looking instrument and I'm sure it will deliver in spades, but the total spent on my 820, 920 and 83 El Toro is still less than what I expect the Kiloton to cost ($1400ish).

The Super J6 on my Roadstars is no slouch, though. A MFD would easily fit in the Ibanez rout. Hmm...

when I first saw the thread title, I assumed it was an amp
I am not crazy about the name now that I think about it. SB-1000/1500 seems the logical moniker.

I think Kilo means 1000 already
