G&L L-1000 Bleg

Even though they're capable of multiple tones, the one I've pretty much settled on is single coil w/bass @100% & treble @80%
One thing I noticed between my '81 and my '14 L1K is the '81 uses the rear coil in S/C mode and the '14 uses the front coil in S/C mode.
The front coil definitely makes it more SCPB like in tone but with a nice amount of warmth due to the rosewood/alder combo.

Pics are taken, and the basses are now setup better and completely checked out. 4 G&L basses are boxed up and ready to get on the brown truck later this evening. Woof, that was a lot of work!!

After a photo processing session this afternoon, I should have all the pics up before I leave tonight!

Here's Brad's bass. That's some serious bling!

Boy, I loved the Fullerton Red one just the way it is. That one sounds sooooo good. I'm guessing those are D'addario nickel rounds of some sort. Of course, as far as nickel rounds go, it is hard to beat a set of DR Sunbeams in my book...

What other strings are you considering?

I was thinking La Bella flats on the Fullerton Red one, and...

Ken Smith Compressors on both :)

Trying to read my mind there, Jorgie?

...well, yeah, maybe the Smith Compressors on the CherryBurst, or D'Addario Nickel XLs. :P

Between La Bella flats, steel rounds, D'Addario Nickels, Chromes and Ken Smith Compressors, I have quite a few strings I can try on both.

Sweet fretless at the back! How do you like the L-1005(s)?

These basses are all so cool. Still trying to decide which setting I like best. I like how my L1005s have the classic parallel/single-coil/OMG switching. All sound really good.

I wish I got the fretless in on the flash, maybe it was too far in the back. I have it playing really well now, you might be surprised!
