G&L L-1000 Bleg

Yeah the diagram on guitars by leo and on basses by leo is the same one. In the quote from G&L on p2 of this thread it says:

"This special run L-1000 will be built to look like other G&L basses with newer headstock, L-1500 body shape, no control plate, back loaded controls, original passive electronics, original pickup placement, and the #12 Modern C Neck as standard features. Any additional charges for options would apply. Also available left-handed and 5 string version"

As long as they stick with the original passive electronics it should be fine.

I hope they go without OMG mode on these. I've got one that has it and I prefer plain series from an L2K over it. But I'll be happy either way.

When they did the BABP limited run, one of the members had sent in their L1K's for G&L to get all the corrects specs. I do believe they had it wired for the OMG switch (which is a cap that basically boosts the lows and highs and cuts the mids). Some like it, some don't.

Yep, the L1K I have is from that run. Definitely series/single/OMG parallel/single/OMG for the switch. When I read the note Greg posted from G&L I took from it that these would be wired up the same way. I'm good either way. If they come in OMG wired I might disconnect the cap in one and see which way I prefer.


edit was to strike series/single/OMG and replace with parallel/single/OMG -- I think it's because I think of the regular L-series as having series/parallel switch that I always start with series.

It's definitely possible we'll do a second run later this year. Whenever we do, we'll just have to work our way through the process of finding 6 orders to put together a batch...

Not that I'm aware of. And, usually, once I say something like that, someone will post 2-3 examples of where they have done it in the past. LOL

G&L likes to say "we don't build it if it's not on the price list." Which is true... right up until the time that they build something that's not on the price list. LOL Needless to say, it can be aggravating to be a dealer who sticks his neck out to say no, only to learn that some other dealer out there was able to convince them to build it.... sigh... :)

Wow. Where's the "Love" button?!?

I did recently notice that G&L has been including the weight of every bass on their "available list" now. That's a list of ready-to-ship instruments that gets emailed to dealers periodically. So I can now make an informed decision about which instruments to grab. I LOVE that, no more 12 pounders in my store! LOL
