"wunkay" comes from using the "K" as an abbreviation for "Kilo" which means "Thousand". So an "L One Thousand" becomes "L One K". For some reason it's common to type the six characters of "wunkay" than to type the four characters of "1000". "Hog" is common for mahogany- not just in G&L, but in guitars. Lots of acoustic guitars have mahogany backs and sides.
