G&L LB-100 Extravaganza!!!

I almost peed a little bit when I opened this case! This is pretty much how the LB-100 that I recently ordered for myself will look. This one is Empress, and the neck is flatsawn and finished in G&L's default clear satin finish. I ordered mine with an Alder body, quartersawn neck and the light tint satin finish. Depending which one I like better, I might pull a switcheroo. 'Cause this is a gorgeous bass, it really sounds great... and it's only 7.4 lbs. :)

I do start to worry about balance when the weight gets down into the low 7's, but this one balances perfectly. Man, it's a nice bass!!

Don't let any of my rambling keep you from pulling the trigger on this one. If I snooze, I lose... just like everybody else. LOL

now that I'm a P-bass w/ flats guy... this might just push me over the edge. I'm thinking I'll offer some sort of incentive to try to get these LB-100's moving, and maybe a free set of La Bellas with the purchase of any LB-100 would do that? I'm already priced 20% under whatever a new LB-100 would go for, so maybe that and a free set of flats would seal the deal for some folks?

You're gonna make me try a P again with all this crazy talk. What would I do with my Roscoes? They're so amazing.

They're different tools. I'd keep 'em all, if possible. :)

That's the really nice thing about these LB-100's... you're really only putting just over about a grand into any of these. Not that that's pocket change, but it is way, way less than a lot of boutique basses out there. Shoot, it's an order of magnitude in some cases, like add a 0 to the price for an Alembic or Fodera.

An LB-100 or a Fender P won't do what those boutique basses do.. but the reverse is also usually true. There's just something about the sound of a P, I love it.

Of course. I have tried to like a P but it seems like when I play one it does t sound like what I hear when others play.

I've always kept things pretty simple, no effects, simple amp, one or two basses. And listening to Jamereo and Pino make me wonder if I need all the "firepower" of a modern 5 active 5 string.

You sort of have to "coax" the sound out of a P-Bass. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. A pick does wonders IMO.

Yeah, I sounded pretty awful the first few days I made the switch. It was fun to have a new challenge in that sense, trying to smooth out the rough edges and find different ways to bring tonal variety to it. It's such a simple machine, but you can really do a lot with it if you take the time to work with it. And it's so dang appropriate for so many styles of music, it just sits so well with other instruments...

Try TI jazz flats It made me a believer in p basses . finger and pick sound killer with that match up

This one has been in stock for a while, but it recently took a little twist so I figured I'd throw this one in the mix, as well.

I recently sold this one, and the customer wanted it delivered with flats. I put a set of Dogal JC106E flats on the bass, and then I shipped it and included the original D'Addario roundwounds in the case in case he wanted to try those. The customer wasn't keen on the Dogals (which are sort of like TI flats), so he put on a set of Sadowsky flats. He loved the bass for about 24 hours, but then decided to send it back.

So I now have this LB-100 back in stock, and it is currently strung with Sadowsky flats. I also still have the original D'Addario rounds and the very lightly used Dogal flats. I'm happy to pass along all 3 sets of strings at no charge as well as offering my usual G&L discount on the bass itself. That's over $100 worth of flatwound strings... for FREE. :)

All on a 7.5 lb LB-100!!!

Here's one more, and then there's just ONE left to go!! I'm not leaving 'til it's posted!

This one is Empress, and that IS a mint pickguard on there. What a cool look. This is yet another one I would never have imagined ordering on my own, but it looks awesome.

One thing I've learned from this experience: order more tort and mint pickguards!! They work on so many different finishes.

Last one! And it a beaut!

This one reminds me of Invalid Link Removed. This G&L has a MUCH prettier piece of Ash. I've since removed the big chrome pieces (bridge and pickup covers) on my Fender, they just get in the way when I play. I tried leaving the thumbrest on, but I've come to the conclusion that even that little piece of plastic gets in the way... so buh-bye to all that cool hardware that makes the bass look so cool/vintage. :(
