G&L LB-100 Extravaganza!!!

Greg you were not exaggerating, this LB-100 is superb. Sound, playability, feel, construction, everything.

Awesome - glad to hear it, Jim!

I guess I've sold 5 or 6 of these LB-100's so far, and I spent a fair amount of time setting up and tweaking each of those. Not a bad one in the bunch, they've all been really, really nice!

I've fallen head over heels for the LB-100 pickup. I'm trying to get my hands on one for my Lull P4. I want that little bit of extra bark and growl that these LB-100's all seem to have. I'm guessing these LB100's cut through a mix better than a great many P's out there...

Interesting! I assumed this little extra bark and growl (which i also notice) was due to the maple board, and i am loving the sound. Not at all zingy or trebly, just very cool bite. Almost like a J-bass with balls, but better since it has that rich round cushy P sound in spades.
So, maybe, my empress JB-2 won't be staying...

Here's one that came through recently for Steve right here in Blacksburg! Congrats, Steve, and thanks!

Thanks, Dennis! That may be the best I've ever captured the subtle sparkly nature of Ruby Red Metallic. It so easy to not highlight the sparkle and just have it look dark red, and then again it's just as easy to over-light it and make it look like a pile of rhinestones...

Oh, man! I recently got my hands on an LB-100 pickup from G&L, and I dropped it into my Lull P4 today. Holy smokes!

I had been perfectly happy with my go-to P pickup (a Nordstrand NP4 w/ their original Alnico 5 magnet) in my Lull. But about a month ago, I decided to try Nordstrand's new Alnico 3 version of the NP4. I liked the Alnico 3 pickup at first. It seems to extend a bit higher in the treble range, and I thought the low end was similar... until I got it on a gig. It was just missing some oomph, it seemed to lack authority. I was starting to imagine that I was actually hearing the chambered nature of my Lull (Mike chambers all his Alder bodies). Their was an airiness and a softness to the tone that I definitely did not dig live. I've also got a '75 Fender P with an Alnico 5 NP4 in it that has been sounding better lately, so I was actually considering selling my Lull... until I put the LB-100 pickup into it today, that is! LOL I'm glad I did this experiment before deciding to sell, 'cause the Lull really is my favorite player. The tone had just been sucking lately.

Now I REALLY can't wait for G&L to finish building my LB-100! Between the LB-100 pickup and the Saddle-Lock bridge, I think G&L is making a really exceptional sounding P-style bass. And with the Plek processing, all G&L's play like buttah these days. I want to hurry up and get in this club already!

Any info on total numbers produced for each color? I have a Plum Crazy and am curious on production numbers

All I know is I only sold one Plum Crazy, but I'm just one dealer of many. If you're on Facebook, I'd pose the question on G&L's page.

And speaking of LB-100's... I've only got about 5 weeks left before my final payment on this big batch of LB-100's is due. I need to sell about a dozen of these LB-100's in that time so that I can make that payment, so I'll just throw it out there that I am motivated to discount even deeper than I usually do to find homes for the next 12 or 14 of these. PM me if you'd like a quote on anything!

And please keep in mind that these are ALREADY about 20% lower than what they would cost to order at today's prices because I grabbed those 20+ LB-100's just before the July 1st price increase took effect. In other words, the price that I show on my site is 20% lower that what it would take to order the same bass today. Any discounting I'm talking about doing is ABOVE AND BEYOND that built-in 20% savings. I'm going to be coming off my site's prices pretty aggressively until I've sold the next 12-14 of them.

I expect my phone will start ringing and my Inbox will start chiming... right now! LOL
