G&L Placentia Bass....

This is what I said about this line up-thread -

"I could see if the Placentia series was the G&L equivalent of the EBMM Sub series, where you getting the look and feel of a unique, iconic instrument at an entry level price. But these just look like generic basses/guitars that don't really add anything to their product line."

...and I stand by that. I don't see any benefit of this line for G&L; they're entering a very crowded space in the bass market and not really adding anything. A sub-Tribute line would have been a better move, in my opinion.

I just looked up the Placentia JP on MF....it's $500. The Tributes go for $550 (JB-2) to $800 (L2K). In as much as the Placentia is barely cheaper than a Tribute, it seems even more of a miscalculation.

Agreed. I'm still a fan of the brand. I own, and love, and L2000 fretless. It's a fantastic instrument.

But this seems like an odd track for the company.
