G&L Placentia Bass....

When they went to make boarders some were close to a fullerton and Placentia boarder some would have preferred to be in fullerton .
Hence why the boarders are kinda goofy

Talk about diluting your brand. There's a reason you don't see "Fender" prominently on a Squier headstock and why you don't see "Sadowsky" prominently on a Metro Express. For me, the attraction to G&L has been the iconic and functional bridge, the pickups and the quality control, and I'm talking about Tributes. The bridge is gone, don't know about the pickups or the QC.

Yeah, all of this. I could see if the Placentia series was the G&L equivalent of the EBMM Sub series, where you getting the look and feel of a unique, iconic instrument at an entry level price. But these just look like generic basses/guitars that don't really add anything to their product line.

Wait, wasn't the Tribute range originally introduced for that purpose? Are Tributes no longer "accessible" price-wise? At the moment, it appears that the street price difference between a Placentia jazz, and a Tribute JB is $50. That's pretty close, doesn't seem like enough to warrant an entire new cheaper line.

Conclusion?....substantial price increase coming for the Tribute range to narrow the price gap between the Tributes and the USA line? That seems the most logical to me, anyway. If I were in the market for a Tribute G&L, I'd be thinking seriously about pulling the trigger now.

Yeah pretty sure everyone will eventually get that, but it won't stop the tsunami of jokes headed their way. The G&L haters are going to have a field day with the name. Haven't heard anyone say it yet, but everyone knows what's coming...(dare I say it?)...the G&L "afterbirth" guitars. Kinda makes one wonder who's making the marketing decisions over there in Fullerton, or should I say Placentia.

something to consider is this is just a MF exclusive offer.
