Thanks for the quick review mate, good to hear it has some balls. Does the fan make much noise?

Not sure. The longest period of time I've had it running was about 1 1/2 hours yesterday, and I didn't notice the fan come on once. Either it didn't get hot enough, or the fan is broken LOL. The unit was definitely cool to the touch though. I'm digging the boost and master b setup so far, and I really like the contour knob for some reason.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the sparkle finish on it, but it doesn't look cheap to me, and once I'm 2 feet away from it, it looks pretty much like GK grey.

I love the knobs as you can easily see their position. The only drawback I can see is that it is near impossible to see which know is which, as the lableing is tiny, and it is sitting 4 feet below me on top of a Schroeder 1212L. I guess just like all of my other amps, I'll just know which knob is which without having to read it's label.

The rear connections are labled above their inputs/outputs as well as on the top of the amp which is kind of nice when you are plugging in.

There are side mounted screw holes that like like they may be for future rackmount ears which would be cool if you have other rackable gear for you rig.

That's cool, thanks for the update! I think I'm sold...

Working on it. After this Thursday's band practice (featuring both heads at high volumes), I'll let you know. ;)

I'm still quite in love with my 2001RB. If you end up liking the Fusion more I'm going to be pretty upset. Not that I let things like TB influence my gear decisions.... hmmmmm.... That sounded like a lie :p

Heh...

I had very particular reasons for considering a Fusion 550. And I haven't made up my mind yet. ;)

I'm curious as to how the manual describes
use of the boost and master-b knobs,
does the master-b work independently of the
main master volume? hmmm

Yes, the Master-B and Master are independent of each other. When the Boost is engaged, the Master-B becomes your main volume, and the primary main volume knob does nothing.

Tom.

Bingo! I just picked mine up from Guitar Center. Well actually, I practically cherry picked it as the FedEx guy was dropping it off at the store. My local GC (Nashua, NH) only took delivery of one and I was lucky enough to get first dibs. I was able to get it for $499 out the door. There is no sales tax in NH, plus I got a price match. Not a bad deal.

While I was there I was able to do a quick head-to-head with the LMII. Unfortunately they didn't have a F1 in stock. All I can say is that they both sound great, and get stupid loud. I'm not your guy for TB amp comparisons. My ears don't hear temperatures, so I can't say which was "warmer". I'm sure KJung/tombowlus will give us a proper review in due time. Here's a few pics of the two. Sorry about the poor quality. All I had was a cell camera.

I've got a rehearsal tonight and a club gig on Friday night. I'll try to bring my GK1001RB-II to the gig and set both up to do a nice A/B comparison. Should be interesting. Just don't expect anything until later in the weekend.

That's a cool size comparison, the box is not much taller than the width of a sales receipt!

It is pretty small. Here's a look compared to the 1001.

I gave the two amps a quick comparison through my ZL210. My initial impression is that they are very very similar, but not exactly the same. I hear a little more in the low end on the MB2, and the boost seems to be a bit more potent. The overall character of the amps are pretty close though. Nice work GK!
