Seems to be built very very well. It's nice that they give you a footswitch if you use them. I didn't like the shuttle when I tried it - seemed to blah with no life for my tastes. But when I hooked this GK up to my Schroeder 1212L, it was like hooking up a pair of balls (pardon the expression). I love the 1212L, but I had no idea it could get such deep clear lows. The cab now sounds like a monster, and it just gets so damn loud. Reminds me of my old 410R now. I'll know more when I get it in with the band.

Nice! It looks pretty slick! It's nice to hear about this head having the power and true low end to widen out and push that 1212L. Not many of the micro's can do that. That's a good sign IMO!

Nice that footswitch and cable are included also. +1

What's the on/off button b/w the Boost and Master? Tweeter cut?

I think that would be the 'engage' button for the second master and boost (i.e., a sort of preset second gain control). I assume that's what the footswitch is for, but they give you the front panel button also.

That should allow you do dial in as much grit as you want while still controlling the overall volume with the 'master B', and then switch it in and out. If it works like I think, this is like having a second 'distortion' type channel (or clean boost channel). Pretty cool if I'm guessing correctly.

Correct!

The boost does indeed add even-order harmonics, and I think it's a very slick control. However, I would not go so far as to call it an 'overdrive' or 'distortion', but it can dial in some more subtle 'grit' and 'growl', and certainly offers a very punchy, yet musical, tone. I like it!

Tom.

Thanks for that, I must say the lettering looks like it will rub off in no time.

Sorry for the delay with the pics:

Thanks for the quick review mate, good to hear it has some balls. Does the fan make much noise?

I was actually disappointed by the sparkly finish of the front fascia. All the pics I have seen so far made it look like it was a smooth aluminium finish, but the sparkly looks cheap. Don't get me wrong, overall it looks well made - dare I say even better than the Shuttle. Shame it wouldn't power up :(

Wow, I'm surprised it was that significant of an issue... especially since you probably can't tell from more than a few feet away... just like you originally couldn't tell from the pics (nor could I for that matter).

The original pics on the site were probably photoshopped in some way, it was so long before they were being produced. Its not a big issue, just one of those little things that in the end all add up to part of the owning experience, and whether that ends up good or bad. Not powering up is definitely a bigger issue.
