Gallien-Krueger MB800

On the mb500, you have the boost though. Typically, you don't want the gain set high on the GK heads...... very shrill and brittle sounding.

I like the gain at noonish, and it doesn't sound, to me, like you describe. To the OP... It is better or wors? No, it's just different.

You can find the operations manuals on-line at GK. They explain the channel options and describe what you can expect. My MB-Fusion is set up a little differently, but the goal is the same; having 2 distinct sounds available and being able to footswitch between them.

I was wondering and hoping that when someone gets their 800 when they review it, they post some sound clips? That would be fantastic and I (as well as everyone else reading this post) would be most grateful.

I was debating between the MB fusion 500 and the Terror 500. After reading several posts, I think I'm running with the mob mentality of the fusion? The GC nearest me uses an area the size of a supply closet for their bass gear. As you can guess, the selection is horrible. Regarding amps, I don't need 800 watts, but I am curious to see how different or similar the fusion 500 and the 800 are. Sounds like we could be hearing about the 800 as soon as early next week!

The MB500/800 are going to sound *very different* from the Orange Bass Terror.
Not even from the same planet, really.
Same with the MB-Fusion. Very different from the Orange.
I'd expect the MB500 and 800 to sound very similar.

The Orange-especially with the Orange cabs-is big, fat and pillowy, and easily the "tubiest" of these three..
The GK MB's are clean, fast, articulate.
The MBFusion adds some harmonic content via the three tubes, but is still very much a GK head, don't expect it to sound like a big tube head.

Thank you Chef. I knew that from the get go that the Terror was very tubey sounding. I just wasn't completely sure if the fusion could sound similar. Seeing as it has an extra 12ax7. One of the main reasons I chose to go with the GK is adaptability. I feel I could cover more ground with that head, then if I went with the Orange. Tho, they do sound nice. Thanks.

I have one in hand right now as a BassGear test unit (and it's not a prototype), so, they do exist.
I'm not sure what actual shipping availability is for retail units.

short review:
"hey, that's a lot of power!"
sonically: seems to split the 500 and MB-Fusion, in terms of tone.

the power level hits a good market niche; it's plenty to push one 500 watt rated 8 ohm 212 cab very well, or, fearful/audio kinesis type cabs with the LF drivers.
