Gamers, what are you playing these days?

I don't remember having trouble with him. but yeah... delay attack and haste would probably be your best friend.

I had a lot of trouble with the dragon you fight before bevelle

If you're talking about that dragon you fight from the deck of the airship, I was stuck on that butthead for sooo long my first time playing through the game.

Illusion of Gaia
Whoa, I thought I was the only one to ever play that game. A true underrated gem with a fairly complex story and some of my favorite video game music ever. I seem to remember it being fairly difficult too. I'll be getting all of my old games and systems here fairly soon, so that may be first on my games to play list.

go back a few pages they were discussed at length. the real thing is so much better IMO

Yeah, I definitely haven't read the entire thread. Lol.

I dunno, it could be a viable alternative to shelling out the cash for the system and game (which are going to be old and may not last in the long run). Though I think you're legally supposed to own a copy of the cartridge in order to have a ROM of the game.

The real thing is definitely better. But that line begins to blur when you hook your laptop to the tv with an hdmi cable (which last I checked are kind of expensive)

Do you mean hdmi cables are expensive? Because you can pick up a 10ft+ long hdmi cord for <5$ on amazon. They are cheapo chinese cords but work perfectly fine, I have 1 6ft cord that I use with my xbox and one 12ft that I use to plug my laptop to my tv with and still be able chill back in my bed, both of which I've been using for almost 2 years.

Nice. Did not know you could get them that cheap. When my ex and I bought a new tv it was the first time I'd had one with hdmi, so we bought the cheapest one they had at the store. Think it was like $40 :( ouch.

Couldn't you just use the d-pad for those?

In some cases maybe, but in most cases the ability to look around and use the c-buttons simultaneously is crucial. If you mapped it to a d-pad then the c's and joystick would be manipulated by the same hand.

The way I've done it before is to map it such (in a playstation controller layout):

L1: c-up
select: c-right
triangle: c-right
circle: c-down

Though some games can be played with the c-buttons mapped to the right analog stick. This works great for a game like Mario 64, where the c-buttons only control the camera angle and don't need to be quite as accurate compared to a game like OoT, where quick accurate button presses are much more important.

I usually just map the C buttons to the right analog stick unless it's something you need to be more precise with. And even then at least two of the C buttons wind up mapped to the analog stick.

After a little bit more thought, I think it would almost be easier to map the c-buttons to ABXY and map the A and B buttons to the triggers somewhere, but it would depend on the game.

I'm amazed people are so in love with N 64 around here. I tried plugging in a bunch of games a while back, but I faced this: a little tv with the little 64 bit graphics was PLENTY more attractive than being boomed up onto the big screen..... Oot is Oot......but with the exception of that, perfect dark 64, and Mario 64......I wish graphically Nintendo stuck with SNES graphics and waited it out till games actually looked hot in 3d

yeah they do look like ass, but there are a lot of great games for the 64

I could go a long time only having mario kart, super smash brothers, and starfox 64

I was never a big fan of the N64, which is why I let my brother have it and he eventually sold it.
But, OoT was one of the best games I ever played, and Ive had a strong urge to sword fight those skeleton dudes.

Deku Tree, Dodongo's cavern, Jabu-Jabu's belly, Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow, Spirit. And let's not forget the well, ice cave, gerudo fortress and Ganon's castle.

:D
