The Etrian Odyssey games are pretty damn hard. Very grindy though. Not very good for light gaming.
My complaint is its predecessors are STAGGERINGLY more visually clear in the visuals department than the N64 ever was, and I reflect that if I were Nintendo, I would think that it was a sloppy move on their part because it looks like they just tried to put out 3-d for the sake of being 3-d. As a system, it's an inconsistent image for the company. SNES and NES you could make out what the picture was in under a second regardless of the game, why can't you with N64? Why the need to play favorites?
Well... Just picked up a 3DS + Ocarina of Time and super Mario land 3d. It's annoying when you accidentally move the screen out of its 3D sweet spot, but holy ****. This game looks SO good. Graphics are a huge improvement over the original. I think I've actually seen some round shapes

I see some Goldeneye talk here....FWIW, Goldeneye was so big in my day, that it was a college intramural sport. (I finished second.)
Maybe because it was new for it's time, but we would literally explode off the couch in exclamation at the end of an immensely enjoyable gun battle every time, usually knocking over and spilling the bongwater in the process. I just haven't ever had more fun playing a game than Goldeneye, even when I was on my tiny corner of my 25 inch CRT, playing with 3 other people.

Yeah, I remember multiplayer goldeneye being awesome too. Granted I was much younger so there was no bong water involved
super smash brothers was another really good party game. And, well... You can't forget Mario party either.

Maybe it was just me and my friends, but some of my favorite multiplayer N64 games were the wrestling games! WCW VS. NWO World Tour/Revenge and the various WWF games were next to Goldeneye in time spent in multiplayer. 4 player sessions on any of those were epic, hilarious, and brutal, all at the same time.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose. I find the graphics more than adequate, but admittedly some games haven't aged well and really suffer on modern hardware. But then again a game like Mario 64 still holds up very well graphically and gameplay wise, imo.
True. But it's hard to screw up the portrait of an icon in whatever format you opt for. Mario ppl universally love (think about it, ever heard gripes about him?) , ppl like link too but are a bit more picky with his image (men in tights live a hard scrutinized life trying to prove they have junk under pantyhose).
Just my observations.
Put a mutated guy in a diving suit and give him guns, tho? He's the ****in boss.

Anyone play Anno 2070? My new laptop is itching for a strategy game, and I don't have many outside of Civ V that I'm going to be able to play on it. A lot of my games were meant to be played on older machines and aren't going to work well (or at all) on Windows 7.
I have a friend who told me it's pretty good. I'm sort of boycotting it due to Ubisoft DRM and their general asshattery, but I'll probably end up buying it on special sometime, looks fun.
Endless space was a fairly enjoyable strategy game that I've played recently, owes a lot to the Civilisation series.
I'm keen to try the new SimCity sometime, apparently it's lacking in a bit of depth though, and no massive cities

Most of the complaints I've read and heard on SimCity deal with EA/Origin/server issues. I thought about picking it up, but I'm not sure It's something I would play long term.
I think I'm going to look into Endless Space. I've spend quite a bit of time on Civ type games, and one set in space seems like a interesting twist.
Just started playing ICO on PS2 the other night. Pretty cool game so far. When I finish that, I'm starting something that will take 60-100 hrs or so. haha

Being a huge Final Fantasy Tactics fan, I've always wanted to try the Disgaea games.
I've only played a few turn based rpgs so far. Dragon Quest 8, and Super Mario RPG. haha. The strategic ones might be too much for me to handle at this point.
I just picked up a bunch of popular ones.
I need to play FF7 one of these days. Or any of them really.

Guys, any suggestions for some really good, cheap games from Steam? I just built my gaming PC and itching to try something. Not really into SC or LoL type stuff but willing to try anything else.

You could always try the new Counter Strike if you like fps games. I think it goes for like $15 on steam. Haven't played it much so I can't really speak to how good it is, but CS: Source has become pretty classic too. Team Fortress is another good one if you wanna have more fun right off the bat.
