GC knowingly selling defective merch?

Well, I have to say that I've always been treated well at my local G.C. I've bought a number of items there. I've gotten some fantastic deals, and they pretty much know that I'm not gonna' buy something unless it IS a good deal.

Absolutely, they are in business to make money. I understand that. But if you've done your homework, you can get some sweet deals on occasion.

And as far as the employees go, they have some decent folks working at the one near me. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have nothing to complain about.

IMO, GC sucks.. sure there's good employees.. it seems like there is many-many more ignorant, rude, condescending employees populating GC stores..

as for the store stock..

it seems there is a high amount of 2nds that are being sold as 1sts.. not just returns that are resold as new, but 2nds from the factories being dumped into GC..

if you buy anything from GC, inspect it before leaving the store.. and that includes strings, etc..

GC now, is not the GC it used to be before the buy out..

Sorry that you've had bad experiences at your local GC's. In my store, we rarely get anything but brand new factory firsts. In my 18 months with the company, I've only seen one occassion that we had any B-stock items, and they were discounted as such and properly labeled.

it's amazing how much B-stock is at the houston north store.. it's not really funny..

it's not uncommon to have new amps out on the floor, that are broken in some way.. switches, knobs, knobs missing, etc.. multi-driver cabs with a dead driver in it..

the other thing is, the employees.. i'm so tired of the out right rudeness of the employees..

you ask to see a bass hanging on the wall.. between the sighs and the looks as if i'm wasting their time, they have a habit of ignoring and running to either the warehouse, or the office next to the warehouse doors..

i asked to see a used Pedulla Pentabuzz.. that has been hanging there for 2 years, thinking that there was a major mark down, i asked to see it.. the employee reluctantly got it down.. the tag had been placed where you couldn't see the price clearly.. and i noticed that it was more than what i had been able to see from the floor.. i told the employee that i was surprised at the price, as i couldn't see the price from the floor.. he just said, "Pfft, it's a Pedulla it wouldn't be marked that low".. and gave me a really ****** look as he walked off.. this Pedulla is most likely still hanging there.. i approached another employee from the drum room after the other employee left me there for more than an hour.. i didn't want to leave it on a stand on the floor.. i asked him to hang it back up.. which he took the bass to someone else to hang up.. oh.. and they sold the used case for that exact Pedulla separately.. it was at the front of the store on the floor with a tag.. LOL..

i'm just tired of the ****** attitudes at GC.. and it's pretty pervasive through out the staff..

i rarely shop there anymore.. there's really no reason to actually make a purchase..

that's not B-stock. What you're talking about is shopworn gear that has been abused by customers. B-stock is factory-seconds that have some kind of flaw. Everyday we discover another piece of gear that someone has stolen the knobs off of or broken. This behavior drives prices up.
