Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

Ouuuch nice tone
How was set your drive ? Light ?

Thank You!

The Drive was set fairly light - just enough to overcome the slight mid-scoop I used on the mids. The YYZ manual says that the pedal is pretty interactive depending on how hard you play & I've been trying to find that sweet spot between how hard I am playing and the pedal's OD.

I wanted to set the Drive pretty light, and the EQ fairly neutral, less Deep effect and just try to control OD dynamics with how hard I am playing. But of course, pickup output comes into play and the pickups in my jazz are wound very hot.

Here were the settings on the pedal. Tight button was engaged, in fact it's been engaged on all the clips I've posted - it's an always-on for me with this pedal.

As requested @jacoby75 & @tonymcbony: a @tech21nyc YYZ & DP-3X comparison test

I set them so that their overall EQ response is very similar, but as you can hear they still sound dramatically different: I recorded them in parallel, so you're hearing the exact same performance in each, and didn't add any post processing at all.

You're my hero! ;)

I soooo want that format!
I can see why, but that video that was posted a few pages back now of the interview of the fella from Tech 21 does a pretty good job of explaining why they didn't (or at least don't YET) offer the YYZ in that kind of format. It's a long, but pretty interesting interview about the history of their products and the design choices behind the YYZ.

I got mine Wednesday, and really, really love it. Super versatile unit, a lot of different tones are possible. I love that Sansamp provides some starting points as well. This thing has gotten me much closer to the tones in my head than any other preamp/drive has, and for that I'm pumped. I'll post my favorite settings sometime soon - it's fun to see where other people take effects like this.
