Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

As requested @jacoby75 & @tonymcbony: a @tech21nyc YYZ & DP-3X comparison test

I set them so that their overall EQ response is very similar, but as you can hear they still sound dramatically different: I recorded them in parallel, so you're hearing the exact same performance in each, and didn't add any post processing at all.

Awesome!
Having owned many Tech21 pedals, I feel the DP3X has that trademark “sansamp” tone.
The YYZ definitely has the Geddy character, which is awesome. But it also sounds a lot more open and unprocessed/natural.

Thanks for posting. I'd been curious about this. Both sound great in their own ways. I get the impression that the YYZ design sizes up with x-over. They may pair nicely together

Got mine today!

I was in Toronto over the weekend, so I stopped into Steve’s Music on Queen St. to see if they had a YY-Zed in stock. No such luck. I spent the money on a steak dinner instead. For dessert, I ordered the YYZ from Musicians Friend using the 15% off Memorial Day Sale code.

How did you get the discount? I tried online and it did not qualify.

Got mine yesterday, extremely impressed with the tones I can get. It excels at light grit and the tight button really helps to cut through the mix. I might end up using it as more of a preamp and less of an effect.

Kind of how I'm using mine - always-on, I set it for a nice tone shaping just on the verge of a nice, light growl.

If a song requires it - I simply twist the Drive a tad more to the right for more "effect" mode.
