Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

As requested @jacoby75 & @tonymcbony: a @tech21nyc YYZ & DP-3X comparison test

I set them so that their overall EQ response is very similar, but as you can hear they still sound dramatically different: I recorded them in parallel, so you're hearing the exact same performance in each, and didn't add any post processing at all.

Tech 21 has really stepped up its game with these two pedals. I really like the character of the DP-3X but the YYZ goes more into my personal taste.
Great demos, by the way.

Well, crap! Those BOTH sound incredible for different reasons. Now I don’t know which one to get first! I’ll probably wind up with both eventually. The Dug sounds more like a Darkglass-slayer to me. While the YYZ is a little more subtle, probably more widely usable. At least for me. I think the EQ curve of the "deep" side of the YYZ sits just right. That's the selling point for me. And the fact that it has Geddy's face on it. Although then I'll feel like Geddy is staring at me the whole time I'm playing; Judging me with his look of disdain for butchering "Spirit of the Radio" yet again because my fingers won't move fast enough. And perhaps owning the appropriately-named YYZ pedal will just be pouring more salt into the wound; a glaring reminder that "YYZ" was - and remains - the one Rush song I could never play fast enough with my fat hot dog fingers.

I've got the next couple days off work to prep for EP tracking this weekend ... so here's my first YYZ sample :)

You can see this pedal doing the Geddy thing well in other peoples samples where my samples will get across its application to much heavier tunes!

Signal chain in this is: Dingwall D-Bird Standard in BEAD in Bridge+Middle (Parallel) setting w/ full tone on and Payson Stainless Steels, Cali76 Compact Bass, YYZ, OmniCabSim Mini, Thumpinator, Jule Monique, Scarlett 2i2

Sounds great!

Bounce the next one with the click off ;)

What does the Thumpinator do?

:roflmao: the drum tracks I'm playing with have the click built-in ... practice tracks for recording this weekend. I'd really like to figure out how to make drum tracks like you, but that's a task for another day.

Thumpinator is a filter:

Basically just doubling up HPF duty with the OCS.

Now with an NG-2

... forgive the click and out-of-tune guitar in the background :roflmao:

That pedal really does have some magic to it.

The original bass tone is entirely maintained, but the bottom end is deeper and more even and there is your choice of grit on top.

Just superb.
