Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

I'd say that means they're processing your order and that you'll get a shipping notification quite soon. :D:woot:

Hopefully! A Sweetwater rep emailed me recently saying that my original PayPal transfer request had expired, and that the next batch of YYZs wasn’t due for a month or so. Maybe they came in early?

I discovered the same problem a couple weeks ago when I had to contact the rep about changing my shipping address. The only bummer was that they now had to charge me tax instead of the flat $199 because of the new law. That's out of their control, so no big deal. I have no notification for shipping yet, but I imagine it will be soon.

Mine came in yesterday, found it at N Stuff Music out of Pittsburgh. I had the opportunity to visit them last Summer. A fantastically stocked local shop who also seems to be pretty serious about selling online. I had tested a few basses at the time kicking tires and such, but left without any major purchases. So, in a way I made up for that, which is nice. And they had it in stock.

It's my first Tech21 product, it might take a while to get familiar and play through a bunch of settings to see what I like the best. I am using mine in front of a Bassman 100t in hopes of different drive tones and as a way of pushing the upper mids and highs. In combo there are a lot of variables, especially when it comes to drive sounds. So far so good...but not at the point for review just yet. Currently am boosting the middle-ish mids a bit with the amp to find the tone I was looking for, but I suspect I can dial it in more with the pedal yet.

Here's a quick clip of using the YYZ from last night's rehearsal. My signal path is CIJ Geddy > Boss WL50 > Ampeg OptoComp > YYZ > PF800 with 115HE and 210HE cabs - both tweeters turned off. The recording is from my Zoom Q2N.

I think it sits well in the mix, a little more aggressive than Adam Clayton's tone but I like it :D

Kind of how I'm using mine - always-on, I set it for a nice tone shaping just on the verge of a nice, light growl.

If a song requires it - I simply twist the Drive a tad more to the right for more "effect" mode.

I received mine today and I think I would agree with this. It can definitely get a nice range of tones but I'm not one to be constantly fiddling with it.

I'm actually considering replacing the knobs with something that has a contrasting mark (like a white dot or line). It's just not real obvious from six feet above exactly what's going on. Likewise, I would have appreciated another LED to indicate if "Tight" was in effect.

Yeah the only beef I really have with the unit is that the knobs are hard as hell to see. Even up close you can sometimes miss the tick at a glance. They look cool, but are slightly less usable than I'd like. Still love the unit however.

Interresting choice of frequencies

So what, exactly, does the "tight" button do? Is it like a high pass filter or something?

Yup, HPF before the clipping section. Makes the drive tighter and more guitar like, with the expectation that you'd recover the lows by blending in the deep channel and/or boosting the bass knob. Quite useful for high output basses with a lot of low end output, to stop things getting too fuzzy.

Huh, I was thinking is was probably a global HPF set low at something like 40 Hz to tighten up the low end, not the overdrive (which certainly already has at least one pole of HPF). I do wish Tech 21 would provide these details. I don't have one of these yet but am looking to try one at some point.
