Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

I have the Sansamp BDDI programmable and I'm really contemplating the YYZ to put in front of it. I really don't like tweaking knobs during a gig and I'm getting what I need now with the BDDI and my GK MBF500, which is really two distinct usable tones. 80% it's hard driven 80s/90s rock n roll, the other 20% is smoother, deeper 70s classic rock. The drive knob and level knob for driving the MBF gain really get me close but this pedal is just intriguing. Plus it's got a cool sketch of the Ged on it.

After trying a couple other things, I'm going back to the YYZ for crunch duty and have fuzz on my preamp. If they ever make my dream YYZ-based Flyrig (which I dubbed the GED X-1), I'll just swap that into the preamp slot and put a fuzz where the YYZ is. Simple!

For aggressive hard rock sounds I still prefer the dUg... so far. Of course I've owned the dUg much longer and am much more familiar with it. Right now I'm enjoying the YYZ solo for lower-gain grit, settings similar to above, though I tilt grit more toward Treble than Mid. That said, last Saturday I stacked YYZ into Darkglass X7 and got a really great tone for a heavy blues/rock gig. :bassist: At this Saturday's classic rock gig I'm going to dial up rockin' tones with the YYZ alone.

Same here for the most part. I think my ears got accustomed to the DP-3X in the mix and maybe the low comp adds a little extra oomph. The YYZ seems to work well and improve upon every combo I've tried so the YYZ > DP-3X became my go-to, plus the DP-3X's DI is convenient... However, I've started to prefer the YYZ's OD with the Tight disengaged and I'd started using an adjustable HPF with it which sounds about mid way from YYZ's cut. Still achieves the snappy driven sound. So, I'm liking the YYZ into the X7 too. With the YYZ > X7 pairing I can use the X7's filters and also add some high end saturation which is working out great. The tone(s) from running the YYZ into crossover is also something I couldn't quite coax out of the X7 or DP-3X alone. With either combo I'm a happy man and the clean-ish to lower gain tones might be best I used

People with self-control are the worst. What, do they not want a massive crate filled with more pedals than they can count? Some people!
I know, right?! That's what I'm saying! "Yes, wife, I DOOOO need this one more pedal. I swear! This overdrive is different than the other ones!"

Finally joined the club this evening. Enjoying what I'm hearing so far with passive P and J; can't wait to try my actives and play with the sample settings. Debut gig this Saturday!

As usual my phone cam tilts the greenish colors bluish (bass is seafoam green), but whatever.
Love that P bass, that color combo is so sweet. Is that stock Fender or is it modded?

At band practice last night I got to do some YYZ practice -- more effective in the band setting than at home. As noted in the manual the controls are highly interactive, and I'm becoming more familiar. Came up with a few cool tones... eventually had to pick one and stick with it because my bandmates were beginning to notice. :eyebrow::D

Hey, thanks. Both basses in that picture were hand-built by a long-time friend who mostly does repair work and vintage guitar restoration. He will build a guitar or bass every now and then, including vintage repros. He does classic finishes, only sprays in nitro. Long story short, I wanted 5-string versions of a very-vintage P and very-vintage J, and he delivered!

Does anyone have an idea about where the low cut point is on the tight switch? I kove what the low cut in the paradriver v2 does for its od.

I don't know, but I thought I'd mention that the YYZ hasn't beat out either dUg or Oxford. Not yet, anyway. Again, still getting the hang of the YYZ. Need to do more A/Bs, also.

I just bought one of these this week. I haven't had a chance to try it a rehearsal yet but I have hooked it up through my practice setup which is a Line6 POD x3 live and my laptop plugged into usb to play along with backing tracks. The bass I chose to try this with is my ESP LTD Maple. I was pretty shocked at the punch I get with the suggested settings with Tight turned on. When playing with ANY of the controls, you can dial in a wide variety of sounds. Can't wait to plug it up tomorrow night and see how it fills in for the 3 piece cover band I'm in. I typically use a Tech 21 SansAmp with a compressor in front of it but this pedal might be fine without the compressor. We'll have to see. Anyway, well worth the price 199.00 and I look forward to stomping on it tomorrow night.

Just did a gig with this pedal and a new P-Bass build, Gezzer EMG, and jazz neck; I wasn't shure if I liked the sound during the gig, adjusted it and all to get the best tone I could for this smaller venue (also have a Para Drive V2 that I like and compared the two; I initially liked the Para Driver, but went with the new Geddy pedal). But just saw a patrons video and it sounded great in the mix out in the audience, and that is what I'm going for; so the Geddy pedal is staying on primary duty. It's difficult judging a pedal or sound.
