Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

Tried the YYZ at tonight’s practice for the first time. I feel like it’s the kind of pedal that sounds good in the mix but not amazing on its own. I play a Jazz Bass, half with fingers, half with a pick.
I played with the Tight button engaged, I prefer the sound that way. But, I had the Lows all the way up, while mids and highs were just a bit boosted.
Deep/Drive Mix at 12, Drive at 1.

Question: is it nonsense to boost the Lows all the way up in Tight mode or is it quite logical considering the effect of Tight on the overall sound?

I imagine the tight effect is before drive but the low EQ after it

I’ll return the YYZ and stick with my Aguilar Tone Hammer DI.

To each their own! It didn’t sound bad. Just not outstanding enough to justify having it replacing my THDI.
Still a great pedal!
I understand. I don't even have one (yet), lol. I like to think that I'll love it, because I love Geddy and his tone so much. And the demos I've seen on here sound really good. But I know there's more to his tone than a pedal. And I don't have his bass, his pickups, his strings, his chops and technique, or his rugged good looks (by Canadian standards). I'm hesitant to pull the trigger for two reasons: 1) I don't have any money. Always an impediment. 2) I'm afraid I won't like it anyway. I have burned through so many overdrive pedals it's ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I've liked something I've heard online pedal-wise, only to get it and be incredibly disappointed by the way it sounds in my setup. It's probably just me.

Thing is, if I wanted to build a big pedalboard and could justify spending the money on the YYZ, I would have kept it coz there’s potential. But I like to keep things simple: a green russian big muff, and my THDI as my main preamp/DI (I don’t have a gigging amp).
