Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

Sounded good last night. I think I’ll
Keep it.

Seems like this pedal would shine most when playing with a full sonic landscape with other musicians. On it's own, I found it a bit rough...but most things I find rough on their own crush it when playing live with others.

That sounds about right. I use mine for my “clean tone” by dialing down the gain and favoring the clean side, but even so there’s a reason I put “clean tone” in quotes.

Decided to do the YYZ with the DSMnoisemaker Subatomic in front of it for a cover of the new Tool single. Sounded pretty great in my opinion!

That does sound good. I wonder if a RAT based pedal like the MXR Bass Distortion would be able to get even more JC sounding? YYZ seems to work great to add the brightness and focus in the Tool bass sound.

I can get the JC pretty well on the YYZ by itself. I just wanted to experiment a bit with flavor. I wasn't after his tone completely. Wanted something a little more grinding. The YYZ can be pretty aggressive if you dial it in right

Tech21 new YYZ Geddy Lee pedal backyard demo.
Bass>tuner>YYZ Pedal>amp set flat.
I was supposed to play my birthday with a cover band, but the scheduling didn’t work. I was about 5 beers in by the time to play for family and friends. Brief intro into a bass interpretation of "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. Hope you like it. I'm a huge fan of this YYZ pedal.
Cheers!

Finally joined the club this evening. Enjoying what I'm hearing so far with passive P and J; can't wait to try my actives and play with the sample settings. Debut gig this Saturday!

As usual my phone cam tilts the greenish colors bluish (bass is seafoam green), but whatever.

Aaaaand a Becos Stella?! No fair! That PBass is sexy. Love the color combo.

Mild direction change with apologies: I love the YYZ, I love the Hyperdrive, I love the B7k - I think this high-mid-dirt thing is just perfect for a crunchy tone without blowing it all the way out to fuzz. Is the DSM Subatomic the only one of its kind that is micro sized? I've got some big@$$ pedals and want to keep the footprint sane. =0)

How does the YYZ sound like straight into the PA? I know it doesn’t have a DI output, but I guess you can always stick a DI box after the YYZ and go direct into the board.

BUT, is the drive sound harsh when direct? Is there some sort or built-in cab sim? Since it’s part of the SansAmp family, I’d assume it sounds great direct even overdriven, but I’m not sure.

Any experience?

I received my YYZ a couple of days ago. It indeed does sound great when plugged direct in the mixer - nothing harsh there.
And when running it through a frequency analyzer it showed that there is a steep rolloff above 4kHz.

So I think it's safe to say there is a built-in speaker sim.

I'm not aware of any other micro multibands. The VFE Triumvirate three-band overdrive (discontinued a few years ago) has a small footprint, but wouldn't qualify as micro.

For aggressive hard rock sounds I still prefer the dUg... so far. Of course I've owned the dUg much longer and am much more familiar with it. Right now I'm enjoying the YYZ solo for lower-gain grit, settings similar to above, though I tilt grit more toward Treble than Mid. That said, last Saturday I stacked YYZ into Darkglass X7 and got a really great tone for a heavy blues/rock gig. :bassist: At this Saturday's classic rock gig I'm going to dial up rockin' tones with the YYZ alone.
