I never understood the "unboxing" videos. Why do I want to watch you take something out of a box that I want?! I want the box! Give me the box! Or at least let me hear how what's in the box sounds. It's not gear porn, for crying out loud. I think maybe you're supposed to live vicariously through their opening of the box. Feel the rush they must be experiencing. Like a pseudo-Christmas morning.Boring!.........Why not just plug it in and demo it?
The demo is coming soonBoring!.........Why not just plug it in and demo it?
i don't find it to be a 'one trick pony' at all. i bought the dUg twice, and just couldn't gel with it. i still have my X7 though but i use the YYZ more. of course, everyone has different dirt needs.
I use the yyz with Basses tunes to drop C and drop B and it sounds great ! I use it as a first level gain always on pedal for it a slight grit and punch/ presence. Sounds great.YYZ pedal plus low-B string equals? For those of you who play 5-string, 6-string, or BEAD (you get the point), what do you get from your B?
Thanks,
John
For me, with my Stingray, I just sounded like Geddy no matter where I put the dials and found it kinda hard to get away from that, or it was too fuzzy for me. Hence my one trick pony comment. Don’t get me wrong, a great tone but had a pretty small spectrum of use for me.

It's a 9 volt pedal and is designed for instrument level. Your best bet with an active bass is to set the tone controls flat and run the volume lower. One of our techs here has a Stingray and he just tapes his volume control lower to work best with our pedals. With an active bass, you are running one low voltage preamp into another. The rack GED-2112 has a PAD on the rear input for hotter signals.
i believe it's an impedance issue rather than an output one, since my (passive) hofners have more output than my stingray. This answer is by supposing the active Stingray has a higher output than passive bass , right ?
Because I have passive basses with higher output than my stingray.
Or maybe it is linked to a preamp impedance thing ? A Different thing than just the "volume" of the signal ?
Yes or just maybe the EQ shape of the Stingray tonei believe it's an impedance issue rather than an output one, since my (passive) hofners have more output than my stingray.
could be, but i really don't think so. i can roll off the treble and bass, and mine has a splitter switch so i can run just one coil and it can almost sound like a passive bass, but i think that the output impedance is the biggest issue with the YYZ. i think that i'll try a buffer buster to see if it makes any difference.Yes or just maybe the EQ shape of the Stingray tone
