Geddy's bass tone

Well I'm one of the people that got screwed by the last minute venue date changes. 200 bucks gone!! according to the ticket sellers I'm S.O.L.

Don't understand the bands decision to change two venues instead of coming up with a better plan. But hey, most people could make it and they still got paid for the tickets for those of us that did not get the request in fast enough to say give me my money back.

Buisness is buisness, but they screwed customers with a straight face.

Absolutely Correct!
Since I've been with Ged, he has always used the Red Bass for whole tone down tunings. It is a Fender Custom shop bass given to him around 1996. It is a great sounding bass! His fave next to his main 72.

Hi All!

I thought I would post while we have two days off!
The mic's pointing towards the audience are for the band to hear you guys. They use what we call "in-ear" monitors. They are what the band wants to hear on stage. They isolate the outside sound so much that the band can't really hear the crowd. We use those to mix in a little crowd noise for the band so they can get a feel and vibe from the crowd.

If I may offer any insight to the mess up with the Houston & NO shows, I can honestly say the band was not happy about this. Trust me, I talked to Ged and he didn't want to flip-flop the shows but Live Nation thought otherwise.
This WAS NOT the bands decision!
We feel for all of you who got screwed. I may seem biased as I work for the band but believe me, the band is held to contract and there is only so much they can do. Live Nation is the one that truly f#*ked up!

Holy crap! :eek: I had no idea that those in-ear monitors isolated to THAT degree! Does Neil need his drums mixed in?

Each band member gets his own "mix". What that means is our Monitor Engineer mixes in any instrument,etc, for each individual musician. They all get to hear what they want so their individual mixes sound so different from each others.

I honestly don't know. Something I've never had to deal with. There must be some website that can tell you what the basic weight of a Fender Jazz from that era possibly weighs.

I know it may seem like a silly question - but the reason that I was curious is that the weight of Fender Jazz Basses from this era is all over the board.

No big deal - I am really enjoying this thread!

Not a silly question at all. I will look into this at the next show. If I can find a scale at the venue I will weigh it and post the results.

Yeah this is what I figured... I know you guys wouldn't have wanted to do that backtrack from Texas to NO and then back to Texas again if you didn't have to.

I appreciate your info on the venue switch. I have taken the liberty to "educate" some others on a particular blog/message board who were convinced that the band was at fault. I have directed them here so there is no reason for them to doubt what I've stated to them and no reason for them to hold the band/management accountable for this...I really get irritated when "fans" want to Rush to judgment every time something happens that effects the fans.

Blame Live Nation and/or the NBA for that fiasco. Guys, one of the other reasons I love to work for this band is that they give a s#@t about their fans.
You must all remember, a band that cares and keeps their fans coming back is to be quite honest, employment for all us road crew, but we road crew do actually care! If it wasn't for all you buying tickets...
