Geddy's new bass???

"there are outdoor seats at SPAC too(as well as indoor),its an open air ampitheatre so if you have "lawn seats" be prepared for any foul weather that may happen...BTW the drive down I-87 is very scenic road that goes thru the Adirondack mountains,so enjoy the ride and the show"


Thanks Rekes. I kind of lucked out with the tickets. After I found out they group wasn't coming to MTL I started checking ticketmaster for the SPAC show. A month after the tickets originally went on sale they had a ticket release and I ended up with fourteenth row so I am pretty stoked. Looking forward to the drive down I 87 and seeing the Adirondacks. U.S. roadways are smooth as glass compared to the crappy highways we have to drive on....

Man, I bought a mint used Geddy a few years back for $500! Now the used ones are in the $700s. Its a great bass but not worth $1000+ new IMO (especially when Geddy himself has said that the production models dont sound alot like his bass and he favors that bass because of some short in the pickup that adds bottom end)

I traded my Geddy in on a Ric (which I have since sold) but I wouldnt mind getting another one to have a nice Jazz in the stable though.

I know it happens in the auto world but do instrument manufacturers (Fender since we're talking Geddy Lee bass) put a msrp (manfucaturer's suggested retail price) on a bass fully expecting the retailers to discount the price to make the consumer feel they are getting a good deal? I often see bass shootouts in magazines and they always list the msrp and then a 'street price' which is always lower.....

I always wanted Rush to name one of their albums 'Living Specimens'.

have like a studio pic of a box being sent postal that had like live animals in it and a stamp on the box that said 'RUSH - Living Specimens'.. Cool huh? I think its perfect.

This, my friends, is my dying wish.... Thoughts? Opinions? Besides the fact that I am a total Rush nerd.

14th row!! wow great seats.....the sound should be awsome. SPAC has great acoustics.(its designed for the ballet and philharmonic orchestrea concerts)...and if it rains,you'll be dry..

I am going to go on a limb here and say that is not Geddy's #1 Jazz. I think that i probably a custom shop bass. I recall Russ Ryan and Geddy saying that they used an off the rack Geddy Lee Jazz neck which the finish was removed from the back and that they replaced the tuners. So that neck can be seen in the Snakes and Arrows DVD, it's very stock looking with his signature on the back and everything.

Besides the biding and blocks on the neck of the instrument discussed in this thread I think the finish on the body is much to shinny and the place where the finish is relic'd does not look the same as his much coveted '72.

WRT to the Wal vs. Ric, I agree with the poster who said when I think of Geddy I think of Ric. Never liked much Wal era Rush.

So where is the new Orange bass amp? Is Geddy still going direct and not using an amp?

It's just the good n' old 72 Jazz with a new neck featuring white blocks and binding and a sticker on the also new pearloid pickguard. This symbol can be found on the cover of the new Rush single (Caravan/BU2B).

I saved a ton on a Geddy, actually 2 of them. I built them out of parts. Yes they are SX but they have the look of two of Ged's basses and sound enough like a jazz bass for me...

Also, I really do not like the neck on the signature model...I prefer my Squier VM jazz or one of my home built Geddy's over the Fender model....sacrilege? maybe but unlike someone pictured here my concert shirt says "Rush"
