Gene Simmons New Cort Axe Bass???

Obviously, you didn't see the part where he was discussing the wood used in Stradivarius Violins, and the resonance they had. So because he didn't state the SPECIFIC SPECIES OF WOOD he's using, he's automatically musically illiterate, and has NO idea what he's talking about??:mad:

The neck is hard maple, the body is mahogany, obviously from overseas, and the fingerboard is Indian Rosewood.

Oh and by the way, if you think all Gene does is play open 1/4 notes then you definitely HAVE NOT listened to the majority of KISS's music, because the man definitely does not pound out 1/4th notes.:rolleyes:

So remind me again, when is YOUR new record coming out and going to Number 1??:mad:

I spent some time with one of these a month ago when I had a couple of hours to kill waiting for an appointment. I really wanted to hate it as much as I loathe Gene, but honestly, I couldn't. Sure, its a one trick pony and had some major flaws, but overall, I was much more impressed than I expected to be.

The fit and finish was questionable in areas. Strings didn't line up over the pickups (bridge spacing too wide for pickups installed), all four tuners were mounted just a slight bit crooked, there was a little fret sprout on upper frets, a few edges were sharp, the volume pot cut in and out a bit, the jack was loose, the neck pocket was not quite as tight as I would like, it had pretty bad neckdive - not as bad as a t-bird, but still bad, and little details were lacking (switch wiggled, nut was not perfectly centred, gap between TR cover and nut) but overall, it was not bad for the money. I'd compare it slightly favourably to a Squier Affinity in fit, finish, fretwork, electronics quality and sound. Maybe more like an early MIM Fender, but not as good as a modern CV Squier or other mass production cheapo bass. I'd also compare it to an entry level Ibanez, and since I think they're made at the same factory, I guess this makes sense.

I don't think I'd buy it, its price point is probably about 1/3 bass and 2/3 Gene Simmons name-related profit margin, but if you're a kiss nut and believe his phenomenal ongoing self-aggrandizing spin, then you'll probably be pretty happy.

And the quality graphic on the Gene Simmons case makes my 1974 Econoline with the custom hand-painted-bare-breasted-arctic-she-demon-wrestling-a-polar-bear jealous...

Sorry to breathe more life into this thread, but has anyone checked out the new Punisher II?
I have always liked that bass, but would never drop over $1k for one. Besides the obvious Gene bashing, has anyone played with this new incarnation?
I imagine a decent setuop and a new set of EMG PJs would make it fun to play.

Shotguns and chainsaws work a lot better on zombies, IIRC.

This is a case of a celebrity chumping a gullible public on a grand scale. For pete's sake you can find a really nice lightly-used Sadowsky, Alembic or (fill in the top-shelf brand of choice) for that kind of coin. But chumps will be chumps and you can't fix stupid.

I assume you're referring to the $5k bass that Gene meets and greets you? The Corts are only $4-500. Find me an Alembic Spoiler for $500, and I'd be so happy. :p
