Gene Simmons New Cort Axe Bass???

Peter & Ace will be there? Oh, you mean Paul & Gene's KISS Tribute band. Sweet! LMAO!!!!!!! :D

As someone who has seen them many times with Ace/Peter.... and with Tommy/Eric.... I would choose Tommy/Eric EVERY time. Much better musicians and much nicer people.

I LOVE Ace & Peter but they blew it... time to move on people, there are more important things in life...

thats like cream with out clapton or sabbath with out tommy iommi and geezer or the beetles with out john and ringo. i dont know what happened with peter criss other than him having cancer but i did agree with them kicking ace out (though he is sober now thankfully) but to dress their roadies up like them was tacky and cheap and tommy isnt half the guitar player ace is (but atleast he shows up and is professional).
that being said im not a huge kiss fan but i do like them, that cort axe bass is going for under $500 and itll be my next new toy as soon as i can afford it. its gotta be awful to play and i dont like signature basses but its a work of art and ive wanted one for ever. as far as $5000 if i had to pay that kiss would have to be the opening band for my breakfest every morning for a year (with original members) for that price.

They may be better, but it still isn't KISS to me. I agree that they should move on. If they still want to dress up in the stupid makeup, fine, but Tommy & Eric should adopt their own persona. It just seems deceitful to dress up in Ace & Peter's makeup. Yes, I know that Simmons and company can legally do it because they now own the rights to Ace & Peter's image, but it doesn't sit well with me.

The axe bass is cool, because it's now affordable. I still think the $5k model is insanity to purchase.

I love the way everyone thinks they know what KISS should do... :rollno:

They've just come off of the biggest, most successful European tour of their career with stunning reviews from critics and old & new fans... and are just embarking on a huge new US tour.... AND have an album that is one of their most popular in many years... yet STILL people think they need Ace and Peter! :p

I sure hope none of you folk run businesses! :p:D

There's the problem right there.

KISS, has become nothing but a business, a parody of the band they once were and the old fans resent it.

The highest point in KISS's career(IMO), and the most honest and dignified point, was when they did MTV Unplugged. Too bad they got so far off course since then, ya I know they make lots of money...if that's the only thing you gauge your life by, I feel sorry for you.

People tend to want their hero's to have some character, not to become a character of what they once were. Today KISS is exactly what Paul Stanley once swore they would never become...fat Elvis working in Vegas.

But they always WERE a business - as ANY successful band is - even back in the day! Think back to their merchandising in their previous heyday of 1976-1978.... the KISSing competitions, the Cadillac KISS day, the blood in the ink, the comics, the TV movie etc etc etc.... It's naive to think otherwise...

MTV Unplugged was all about business! It was THE thing to do for any band at that point.... and by getting Ace & Peter on it they increased viewing figures/subsequent video & CD sales. It was their way of testing the water for a big reunion of the original line-up... which was ALL about money!

FYI I DON'T gauge my life by money in ANY way. I am just discussing KISS here so ease up on the assumptions fella...;)

Not even close.... they've just come off one of the biggest tours of their career and will be making another album after their US tour. Hardly Elvis/Vegas....

Credibility is all very well but it may interest you to know that one of the most 'credible' musicians of recent years Joe Strummer actually said to Gene that credibility wasn't worth a damn and he'd much rather of had more of the money!

Wise up folks....
KISS is a band, but they aim to make money like any other band, and they don't care whether you like them or not! What they're doing is popular and profitable and the views of haters sitting in their bedrooms making judgement calls on matters of 'personal taste' are worthless.

KISS hasn't been a "band" in ages!

This is Sean Delaney, one of 3 (Bill Aucoin and Neil Bogart being the other 2) who created EVERYTHING you see at a KISS show. Not Gene, Paul, Ace or Peter.

If Sean had only cared about the money, KISS wouldn't even exist today, because the show, the characters(as well as ALOT of the songs) was his creation.

You can say our opinions are worthless, but those of us who went to shows when most people wouldn't admit to owning a KISS album are the people who kept them going all these years. We certainly don't have to agree with everything they(Gene, Paul) do.

OT:
I apologize if you feel I insinuated that you, personally, only care about money, that wasn't the intention and as I don't know you in the real world, I would have no basis to make such an assumption. So again, sorry if it sounded like that.

No worries and thanks for the apology. :)

Well, they write songs, record albums and tour them. Not sure what more you need to class as a 'band'?

Ah yes, 'Sean Delaney'..... while there's no doubt he had a major input, many of his 'claims' have been shown to be outright lies.... I'd take most of what he said with a MAJOR pinch of salt ;)

Here's the thing. I don't think Peter Criss should complain in interviews about Tommy and Eric wearing the makeup. You forget to tell them that you SOLD IT!!! That's like selling your house and then complaining because someone else is living in it. It doesnt matter if you built nad designed it, you've transferred ownership to someone else. It's done, finished, etc.

I'm glad Kiss is super rich and successful. I'm also happy that someone else here agreed with me. I was beginning to think I was crazy.

I respect everyone's opinion here. However my hoakie meter seems to peg when I see a 60+ year old wearing makeup and leather, playing shows with dudes dressed as other dudes. KISS Alive! is one of my favorites, so I'm no KISS hater. I just think KISS has become a tired parody of themselves. I would think out of respect for past members, KISS would have Tommy and Eric adopt their own personas.

And I really don't think KISS is ALL about the show and the money.QUOTE]

LMAO!!!!!! ROTFLLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't Gene Simmons's autograph include dollar signs?
