Gene Simmons New Cort Axe Bass???

Funny, the original package deal DIDN"T include a ticket to the show! You would think if someone was dumb enough to shell out 5K Gene would throw in a seat to sit in. 
Gene may be money hungry, but I seriously doubt he would do that when it involves the military.
He was on a radio station a while ago doing an intrview and mentioned that he's been to Camp Pendleton in California a couple times, and recounted a particular story where he took his daughter with him to visit a veteran hospital and he was talking to a particular man who had lost his legs in a fire, and was in really terrible condition, and Gene literally could not finish telling the story because he was overcome with emotion.
Anyway, on their Hottest Show On Earth tour, they're allowing up to 4 14-year old kids or younger get in for free with an adult.
The $450 model and the $5000 dollar model are different basses! For $450 you get :

He used a Stingray in 1998 for Psycho Circus, but for their new album last year, he used a combination of a vintage Gibson Ripper and his Punisher.
Here's the bass track to Rock and Roll All Nite with him playing his Punisher bass, which was recorded last year as well.
I'm surprised, I would have thought the very first reply to this thread would be a redirection to the "Who thinks signature basses are lame?" thread.
I'm still waiting for the Punisher Cort bass..on the cheap..
I like the Punisher too. I heard nothing but bad things about the Punisher he released years back.
Does he even use the J pickup? I've seen pics where the J pickup is almost flush into the bass's body.
First, I'm think Gene has a heart for the troops. When I was in the military, I had a bunch of peers who were also into KISS. However, Gene knows how to parlay a good cause into financial savings.
And Gene telling that story about the injured soldier... Gene loves to hear the sound of his own voice, so of course he's going to not finish his story.
Maybe I'm jaded, but I think being a showman is always number one for him. It begs some to wonder if he does good works because he wants to or because it gives him something to toot his own horn about. Just my .02.

Of course being a businessman & showman is #1 to Gene, but yes I think you are being jaded to presume that he doesn't want to do good work with deserving coauses...

Yeah, the J pickup is usually flush against the body. Wonder what it would sound like with the J pickup mixed in.
He stated on his site a while back that he donates to Christian Children's Fund because he doesn't want children to starve or die.
Pretty charitable if you ask me.
Really?? I've heard quite a few good things from people who weren't even KISS fans. Things like the neck being thin, very playable, the neck being completely free from the body, the finish, and the unmistakeable clear growl.
Just so you don't think I'm a GS hater...

Simmons and Stanley could disappear and I wouldn't miss them personally, but...
I've played that Gene Axe Bass - local shop I support, stopped in, he had one. Bass plays well, sounds good... but it's Cort. And really the only people who dis Cort are those who haven't played one in the last decade. It's well built, but really - who wants to play that THING??
