Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

Has any of you tried out different preamp tubes in your Genz Benz? I have a Shuttle MAX 6.0 and really like a Boogie 12ax7. This tube has more character than the stock tube when you push it. This way I use the FET channel for lean and the tube channel for some grind. Was wondering if anyone else tried different tubes...

I'm currently using a 1955 Long Plate Mullard ECC83 in my 9.0.

No complaints from me.

I find only subtle differences in tonal improvement from a cheap tube to a really good tube.

I did,, i sold my GS112s though.. wish i didn't.. have the DB112 now but going to GB uber 210s once these are gone..

STL9 + GS112s = Killer loud and Huge bottom rig ..

The shuttle goes well with many types and styles of cabs IMO...

I really want one of these!

Does anyone here use theirs with a pair of Aguilar GS112's? Thats my current cab combo and I'm curious of how the pairing would be with the 9.0.

Out of my ampeg 410HE, Avatar 210 NEO and Avatar 112 NEO the 112 sounds the greatest.

I am still digging on this head allot. I really love the tone I hear out of the DI and have decided to buy a three way cross over cab to pair it with in hopes for a ~$500 cab that doesn't color the GB 9.0 tone. For now I am most fond of the Avatar's 112 tone with this head, I'm addicted to switching on and off the tone shapes while the EQ is flat with slight bass boost. I like all three shapes alone and in multiple combos. I want to build my own foot switch so i can switch all or two of the shapes with one stomp. My favorite filter combos are:

Treble Boost
Mid Cut + Treble Boost (The hello Marcus combo)
Mid Cut
Bass Boost + Treble Boost
All Three (At first I thought it was to much, but with almost flat eq, and a flatter input from my bass's J-retro pre it is terrific)

I want to build the foot switch in the order of Bass-Treble-Mid Cut. Space them about an inch and a half from each other. Then each of the above combos can be had with one stomp!!!!!:hyper:

I too thought the three switches were too much at first but I have found them quite useful.

I find myself using different combination's of the three and loving it.

Has anyone used their Shuttle 9 with a Schroeder 1210R? I was offered a stupidly cheap deal on one via an acquaintance, have already sent the money, and will be picking it up on Saturday.

I've been using a Berg HT322, but have a regular gig where I fly to an island and carting the Berg over there is killing my profit margin. Plus it's overkill for most of my gigs...

I have and it is a LOUD set up...
The Schroeder 1210R is a very mid sounding cab and adds point to the notes.. Not real bottomy at all.. But When i used it with my 9 it sounded way better in a band mix than when i soloed it... and the 9 drives it rather well..
Its also a loud cab.. some would say it rivals a 410 possibly.. its small Loud and works well.. I like it better than a 21012 that i just tried on a fly date.. the 1210 is more balanced.. good cab, not hifi at all.. more old school midrangy.. it is pucnchy... The one thing that i liked about it was that I could really hear myself well onstage in a dense mix...

That's basically what I've gathered. I think it's going to work out well for my situation (two guitarists, keyboards, and a loud drummer), but I'm probably going to miss the deep lows of the Berg.

How are the highs? Does it do a respectable slap?
