Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

I built my own. Had a midi cable lying around and I wrote down what pins were what.. Ill find it for you if you want.

Thanks, I got this from Deekay911 a long time ago when I was asking about the 6.0, however, shortly after I began an amp tasting quest and sold my 6.0. Are these the correct pins?

"Looking at the back of the amp at the 6-contact DIN connector, we'll call the single contact at the top of the connector "1", and the rest of them "2" through "6", starting from the left and going counterclockwise around the semicircular arrangement of contacts.

Mute: Short 1 and 3
Low Boost: Short 1 and 4
Mid Scoop: Short 1 and 5
HF Attack: Short 1 and 6"

Cool someone let me know if this is correct (guess I could try it).

I wouldn't mind building a unit that is smaller and has just Bass Boost and Mute in it. Or maybe something really small as I can Mute with my Tuner.

Did a gig with backline tonight.. There was an SVT 810 and head waiting,...It was a two set gig....
first song into the set the SVT head sent into a weird distortion almost as if All the speakers blew at the same time..
Never had that happen before...I wasn't really playing that loud.. The SVT was on about 10 o'clock.
Before the end of the song the amp went phitzzzzzz and turned off..

I had my shuttle 9 head right there and fired it up in 1 minutes time.. Holy cow the 9 is able t drive the heck out of that 810 cab.... didn't get photos it was too much mayhem.. but it looked funny on top of that big cab.. sounded great though...

I just spent about 20 minutes going deaf with mine in my room. Going thru what pedlas..*** are pedlas??? to keep on my pt-1.

Hey SVTB15 , It so easily drives an 810 doesnt she? I did that at the Toronto Blues Fest this year. AWESOME!!!!!
SOund crew were like, you know we got that svt rig...I mean dude its an svt!...I was like.."Dude..don't insult me!"..HA!

Oh, Ill get that "schematic" of the pinouts posted tonight. I did mine a little different.

I put the mute switch on its own foot pedal..only because the box I bought would only fit 3 switches with room...Ill put piccies up on my facef*** page too.

Yeah.. it was a suprize how it thumped an 810 box and it had clarity like crazy...

That Aux Input works great.

I can not see a use for it to go to the DI but I could see a use for a USB port.

I just love my little 9.0.

I had been using an external preamp (Joe Meek ThreeQ) into the Aux in and running my electric upright into it. It was a nice way to balance out two instruments, but since the Aux In doesn't go to the DI I wasn't able to get the electric upright into the house mix. I love the way my Stingray 5 sounds thorough the Shuttle, but the upright needs a significantly different EQ setting to cut through.

I think a blend knob for the FX loop could fix this, plus give us the use of mixing a dry signal with a FX signal. Don't see how they could fit another knob though. Seems they gave us as much as you could fit in this head.

Bingo!!!

Form-factor/feature set/price/marketability determine a final human decision as to the product based on what compromises make the most sense to whomever makes that decision.

I actually ended up using a MIDI controlled A/B Box (Sound Sculpture ABCadabra) feeding the Effects Loop return with channel A being fed by the Effects send on the Shuttle and channel B being fed by the electric upright signal from the ThreeQ. It worked like a charm and I could select the bass I wanted via my MIDI controller.

Ultimately, though, the electric upright takes up too much room on most of the stages we play and I've nixed the idea of bringing an extra bass.

I gigged last night with the Shuttle 9.0 and Schroeder 1210R for the first time. Definitely a TOTALLY different flavor than my Berg HT322. The punch and definition was actually a little off-putting for the first set until I got used to it. I did miss the lows the Berg puts out, but several musician friends were in the house and said the sound came together much better out in the room. I didn't dig the horn all that much, so I may look into doing something different there. Overall, though I was very impressed, and your description was spot on.

The best part was that I was able to walk two blocks to my car with the Schroder cab in one hand, my bass, Shuttle 9.0, and Boss VF-1 in my gig back on my back, and a bag with my MIDI controller, instrument stand, and cables in my other hand. Sweet...

I have and it is a LOUD set up...
The Schroeder 1210R is a very mid sounding cab and adds point to the notes.. Not real bottomy at all.. But When i used it with my 9 it sounded way better in a band mix than when i soloed it... and the 9 drives it rather well..
Its also a loud cab.. some would say it rivals a 410 possibly.. its small Loud and works well.. I like it better than a 21012 that i just tried on a fly date.. the 1210 is more balanced.. good cab, not hifi at all.. more old school midrangy.. it is pucnchy... The one thing that i liked about it was that I could really hear myself well onstage in a dense mix...
