Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

I just got one of these about a month and a half ago and I simply love this amp! I have it paired with a Bag End 2X10..it just sounds fantastic!

Don't know, my 9.0 does sound a bit better (than amazing) with some aggie TLC going into it.
I would try a GB pre in an instant, though j-retro and 9.0 = tons of tone magic.
I have the Shuttle Max 6.0 and am very happy with it after 9 months of gigging. The only thing I changed about it form stock was to put my favorite tube in it to get 'my' sound from the tube preamp channel. I use the solid state channel a lot too. It is still confusing to me that I can actually use a Class D power amp. I am getting out of shape though without a big rack to drag around!
I just ordered a Shuttle 9.0 for my larger gigs. I use a Markbass F500 with two (8 ohm) Markbass HF410 cabinets for my smaller gigs. I'm just hoping that the Shuttle 9.0 sounds good with the Markbass cabinets. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days. I have a gig this Friday at a good sized bar , so I'll be using the Shuttle 9.0 for that gig. Then Saturday I have a gig at a smaller bar , so I'll be using the F500 for that gig. I'm hoping that this will be a good combo for my smaller and larger gigs.

Is there any way I can get you guys to talk about the shuttlemax 12.0 vs the shuttle 9.0? Im like....seriously torn.
Looks like it comes down to what cabs you use and the 9.0 is better for a single 4 ohm load and the shuttlemax 12 is better for versatility, but is only as powerful as a 6.0 with 2 8 ohm loads. Damn. The 9is a little cheaper in price. I already have a shuttle 6, so....damn my head is spinning!

I've only had the F500 for a couple of weeks now. I've played a few smaller gigs with it and loved its tone and volume , but when I had a gig in one of the larger bars in the area I couldn't get the sound/tone that I normally get out of the Markbass rig. I couldn't get my Pedulla Thunderbass to sound good at all (Which never happens!!) so I ended up playing my 6 string Skjold the rest of the night because it has more control over bass , mids , and treble than the Thunderbass does. I finally got the Skjold to sound halfway decent , but still not the tone that I was used to out of the rig. I spent more time that night twisting dials on my amp and basses that I got very frustrated. That's when I made the decision to get a different head for my larger and outdoor gigs. I had been playing through an Epifani UL902c through two Series II Epifani UL410 cabinets for the last couple of years. That amp sounded great , but it just had too much power for my smaller gigs , so I sold it for an amp that I thought wouldn't overpower my smaller gigs , but still had enough OOomph for my larger gigs. I'm not saying that the Markbass F500 couldn't be that amp - it could be that I just didn't know what mids to cut or boost to get the head EQ'd to the room. Unfortunately - even though I've been playing bass for 25 years I'm not a sound expert when it comes to EQing my amp for different room sizes , and I never run through the PA. So I figured that the best thing to do for my situation is have two heads - one for smaller gigs , and one for larger gigs.
I'll let you know after this next weekend if my Shuttle 9.0 arrives by then. They said it should , so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I think Kjung would be a great guy to PM or reach out to for this, he has the F500 and allot of know how with amps and sound.
My 9.0 gets louder than my F1 did, can't tell you if it will retain your tone at louder volumes. I usual have to eq a bit to maintain mine but I think it might be more of a function of pushing the speakers than pushing the amp that changes the tone at huge volumes, and the room size and....
Also, when you really push the GB and the tube sim limiter kicks in it will change your tone a bit.

I grew up playing heavy metal (I started playing bass in 1985) when I lived near Milwaukee , but I moved to the northwoods of Wisconsin in 1997. Since there aren't a lot of metalheads in the northwoods I've been gigging out in classic rock bands since the early 2000's. I do add some slap & pop in a few songs occasionally when I can get away with it to keep things interesting.
Buy both. That's what I did.
I'm actually using my 6.0/12t the most right now since I have good PA support. I just got the 9.0 a few weeks ago so it will probably see more use than my 12.0 due to the newness factor.
I've had both, you cant go wrong with either.
To me the biggest difference in the two are, the 12.0 has this very unique 3D clarity thing going while the 9.0 is more old school warm sounding. With two 4 ohm loads the 12.0 will annihilate but the 9.0 ain't exactly shabby in it's output as it will stomp the other lightweights in the dirt.
The 9.0 is capable of thundering out more low end cleanly than many cabs can take so you have to proceed with caution. I hooked my 9.0 up once to a 2x18 sub and at halfway on the master volume it was insane. As in scary deafening insane.
My personal favorite is the 9.0 because I like it's output into 8 ohms, I love the tone, and I do not need two channels.

I`m not shure if the 9.0 is a good match for the 104HF cabs though. The F500 has less low-end thump, but more high-mids, might be a better match with the MB cabs IMO . Please post your review after the gig

See, as much as I like the idea of an F500, the fact the 9.0 has more lows and less hi mids (maybe even a little less hi fi sounding?!) makes me want the 9.0.
This amp is just the cat's meow.
Is anyone using it in a rack? I am thinking about racking mine with a tuner/lights/power strip.

It powers two Bergantino cabs:
One HS210 and one HT112ER. Together, they bring the 9.0's load down to 4 ohms and leverage the full 900w of the 9.0.
Really impressive rig and better than I deserve. Just great punch and tone all day long. Plenty of db.
