Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

Curious, with the ae's and the 9.0 can you get a pretty old school type of sound with a p-bass? The streamliner sounds great for that, but I've already got the 9 and am looking at cabs.
I play a 74 p bass with this rig all the time and love the tone , the 9.0 is pretty flexible tone wise , I think it sounds great , i also play my Lull ash maple jazz thru it allot , they both sound great , I have not tried the streamliner though , but hear it is killer and may get one as well , just for gas sake , but the clips ive heard have been nice , old school with the AE's , hard to say but everyone always complements on my tone at gigs with that rig and it is inspiring for me to play thru , you should try them both if you can , I turn the tweeters down when I am playing the P bass

Thanks for the info! I'm loving the 9.0, can't believe how much juice it has. I've got an EA m-line wizzy that will be torn apart by the genz, so I'm looking at the bergs.
Love this thread!

A wet dog and a box on the porch when I got home tonight. Kids are in bed. Hopefully I'll be appreciating it tomorrow, especially when the new cab arrives.

Correct. Should have an LDS 12/6 show up today.

Sounds good through the little 112 cab in the pic. It doesn't have a tweet so I'm really looking forward to hearing the nEarful. If it lives up to billing this cab may go on the block.

I did the host band thing at a Sunday blues jam the last 2 Sundays. Not wanting to risk my Acme B-2 cab I plugged my Shuttle 9.0 into the house SVT 8-10 cab. The only bass player who didn't get his mind blown was the one who uses a Shuttle 6.0...

The more I play this amp at home or at church the more I love it.. This Sunday past I played 3 services... two English and one Spanish.. the Hispanic service was over at 3:30.. and I had to come back to do a service that Rudi & Sharon Swanepeol were doing at our church.. I got there about 2 hours early.. and there was no one in the Sanctuary.. Just a handful of folks in the church.. so I got a chance to crank it up and really stretch my cord and give it an earfull.. What a great amp... I want to bring my Schro in and see how the two 212s (The Avatar B212 & the 1212L) sound together..

I also loop the bass cord around my cabs handles so if some one trips over it the GB does take flight.

Yeah I started doing that too... my cord has a velcro wrap on it and I always put that on the cab fur.. I am usually playing pretty close to my amp and there isn't much traffic through there.. but Summer is coming..

I haven't heard anything yet about the 9.0 against the 9.2. Any thoughts on the comparison? Is the 9.2 basically the same tonally as the 9.0's tube section but with more flexibility?

I believe they are real close cousins with the exception of the FET channel and the extra EQ but the power section of the 9.2 has the new 3DPM which the 9.0 does not. There should be some feel difference I think.

All that being said, I had a 12.0 that I thought was great but it be had too many knobs and was too big compared to the 9.0.:D

Now I has the Liner and the Niner. :bassist:

Ok guys, I know the 9.0 can do modern/slightly aggressive grindy with plenty of clarity, BUT, how does it do a more vintage tone? Eg Fender P with flats? Does it have that warmth and ummph?

I have a ShuttleMax 12.0, which I would assume is similar tonally (?)...to me one of the cool things about these amps is they sound like whatever you put into them...my upright sounds like my upright, my P-Bass sounds like my P-Bass...if that makes sense :)
