Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

Ohulahanbass, I run my 9.0 thru a Avatar 2x12 and a 2x10, and it sounds awesome. It's got a great old schoolish warm tone. The 2x10 gives it a nice midrange honk that is perfect for cutting thru the mix. I was running just a 2x12 at first and had trouble keeping up volume wise-not so with the added 2x10. For what it's worth, I was competing with a 60 watt Randall and a 100 watt Engl going full bore. I don't have trouble keeping up with those guys anymore. The best part is is this setup sounds FANTASTIC.

I just sold my RH450 and am about to flip my Ampeg 410 also. I'm trying to determine if I want 2 more 8ohm Avatar cabs (a 15-6-1 and a 2210 or 410) or one 410 Uber cab at 4ohms. I dig the thought of having a three part modular orange avatar rig but am very curious about the Ubers.

It comes out in a couple months. They were going to release a 15-10-1 but got a negative response on TB so they are now coming out with the TB1561 or something like that as soon as the new custom 15"NEOs come in. I called to buy the Prototype 15101 but Dave talked me into waiting. Now I'm think I might try to get a deal on an Uber instead.

Still loving my 9.0

I keep telling our Keyboard player he needs a 9.0 or 6.0 and a light weight cab. He uses an old PV Bass head and an old PV PA cab plus his Leslie for live shows. The PV head took in some water recently along with two of his keyboards and he just keeps uising the stuff. When it fritzes out he turns everything off and back on then proclaims he's fixed it.

Red Planet, that reminds me of a band I saw this weekend where the bassist was playing an ancient 300RB. It was distorting badly on him and was only about half volume. He walked over to it, knocked the hell out of it, played a few notes, and then gave it a thumbs up and played the show without a hitch.

That method works when my wireless goes out:)

Any othe thoughts on an Avatar stack vs. a single Uber 410 4Ohm?

Seems people dig shuttles with Avatars, I love the way it sounds through the Avatar 112 but need a diferent high power rated rig for high volume situation.

I haven't played on this cab yet, but anyone have any experience with the shuttle 9.0 rocking the GK NEO 412? I've heard they are pretty good, but how well do you think they compare to the GS412 or Mesa 412?

I haven't pulled the trigger on selling my SVT610, but working on it :)

There are some darn good sounding 410s out there, the Uber certainly among them. Doug Johns played through one at the bass event in Boulder recently, and it sounded silly good. Also, I just sold a Berg AE410, which was an outstanding cabinet.

Through the years, though, I've identified a fundamental issue with 410s for me. On most of the stages where I play, I am standing 18" to 3 ' in front of the cabinet, with the tweeter about at calf-level. In that circumstance, the sound I hear is not the same as the sound the audience, or even the rest of the band, hears. So I prefer a stack of two smaller cabinets that move the sound higher and closer to my ears. When we play a larger stage, like the Fox in Boulder, I'm at least ten feet in front of the cabinet and none of the above matters.

The two-cabinet setup is arguably less portable, though I will say that even light 410 cabinets are hard to carry just 'cause they're big - but in the end worthwhile for me.

+1 I play alot of large venues, theaters, etc. and the 2 cab setup is key to be heard as my rig can be over 15 feet away on some of these stages.
I use the Shuttle Max 12 with two 410 4 ohm cabs. I would love to rock a pair of those Uber 410s! With the SM 12 those cabs must punch up a storm!
