Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread: Part II

I do like the edge-lift handles, but lately have been needing to carry the Neox212t up and down stairs, and some side-mount handles at a good balance point would just make that a ton easier. I'd love to do recessed handles, but I like that the surface mounted ones can just screw on without having to do any cutting.

I also think I'm just going to mount a strap handle or something along the back top to make one-handed rolling easier. Roger, have you guys given any thought to adding a third edge lift handle on the back top, like you do with the Uber 410, for example?

I'm sure I'll post up some of my thoughts when I get everything in. I've seen your posts in the bergantino thread. The AE410 does seem to get some great reviews here, but the cab I had before I found talkbass was the NeoX212t, and I remember that cab making me feel really good about my bass tone. Then I started reading talkbass and wanted to try everything I could get my hands on. However, no other speakers I've tried and owned since have had the same pleasing effect that the NeoX212t did for me, at least as far as I can remember anyway. I don't plan on making any rush decisions as to whether the new genz benz stuff will work better for me than my current gear.

EDIT: EDIT: I canceled my order for the Shuttle 6.0. I've been playing around with the LMII tonight with the UL410, and I just like the LMII too much. I'll admit the UL410 sounded damn good as well, so the Genz Benz NeoX212t is possible that it has met it's match.

Even though I tend to favor 10s, I have heard some 212s that I REALLY liked.

I'd love to try everything before I buy, but Tom Bowlus' basement is quite a ways from my house here in Oregon. :p

Mike - Thanks for the heads-up, brother. I just snagged one (6.0 head) from Ryan so they have two left. He said they "received three and hadn't even uncrated them yet". And yes, I dropped your name on him and why you wanted me to. He says "Mike gets taken care of..." :D

Its weighs 10 x less than the svt 4 is way smaller and personally easier for me to get a sound.

That's not my cab :) No way we can take cabs on flights...excess baggage is enough as is. It's what they had at the venue...but agreed, it looks brilliant. I think the Russians thought I was a little mad.

I just picked up a 6.0, and posted a good bit about it in the other Shuttle thread. I'm very pleased with it. It seems to have a much sweeter top end than the Neo-pak which I am thankful for. It also feels more punchy than the Neo-pak.

Got my 3.0 head yesterday in the mail and had two rehearsals last night to try it out with. First rehearsal was through two Aguilar GS112's and I have to say I was surprised by the weight, tone, and sheer power of this head. Second rehearsal was at a college chapel through a 4 ohm Yamaha BBT210S. I thought the head was gonna really be pushed hard but it handled the practice with ease.

I love this head!!!!!!!

I now want to get a 6.0. I am glad I listened to you guys in this thread. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

WOW! I've been loving my 3.0-10T combo since the day I got it, but today I decided to pull the 3.0 head from the combo dock and hook it up to my 4ohm SWR Goliath Jr. III 2x10 cab to hear what it can do opened up at 300W...

:eek: This thing can THUMP and it is LOUD! I did have to cut the highs a lot (it was very bright), but there is plenty control in the EQ and Shape switches to zero in on the tone I need.

If this is 300W, I can't imagine what the 6.0 would sound like through a 4ohm Goliath III 4x10! These are the true featherweights in size and weight, yet pack a bigger punch than the big boys! :D

Actually, they have (maybe had at this point) a 6.0/112 combo.
I thought they said they had the 6.0/210 combo......

Anyway, here's a question for you guys:

the 6.0/112 or a 6.0 and a NEOX112T?????

Everyone who's heard the two say the Neox is bigger, deeper and fuller sounding. This doesn't surprise me as that's how I describe the Neox 112 to most every other 112, with a few exceptions. Having the Neox 112 and loving it, I don't think I'd want to have the Shuttle 112. I've become spoiled a bit with what I have.

A Shuttle 3.0/110 seems like a great rehearsal combo. I have a GK Backline 110 that I often use for that, but it's output is pretty low, and it is heavy for it's size.

I suppose for someone who plays a lot of gigs in restaraunts, perhaps doubling on upright, and who doesn't really need a deeper sounding cab, the Shuttle 6.0/112 would be better than the Neox 112 since it's smaller and lighter.

If/when the mounting brackets become orderable, I plan to buy one and attach it to my Neox 112. I think that would be the ultimate combo.

That's normal because the red light means you're overdriving the preamp, not the power amp. The output limiter only lights when the power amp is being pushed hard, and then the limiter gives you some protection and time to back the Master off before doing any damage.

The 3.0 also has less headroom when driving an 8 ohm load at 175W, so it's normal to overdrive it a little past half way up. You get a lot more headroom and volume when you run 300W into a good 4 ohm cab (like my Goliath Jr.) or an additional 8 ohm extension cab.

Pinout, schminout :) Here's what you need:

Looking at the back of the amp at the 6-contact DIN connector, we'll call the single contact at the top of the connector "1", and the rest of them "2" through "6", starting from the left and going counterclockwise around the semicircular arrangement of contacts.

Mute: Short 1 and 3
Low Boost: Short 1 and 4
Mid Scoop: Short 1 and 5
HF Attack: Short 1 and 6

The front panel buttons need to be "out" (not engaged) in order for the footswitch to do its thing.
