Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread: Part II

with all the genz shuttle threads, i wasn't sure where to post this...

anyway, sure is a hoot walking into practice with all my cords and Shuttle 6.0 in my old Neo-Pak case over my shoulder and my bass in one hand.

i'm pretty sure the band is getting pretty tired of me walking in and saying, 'damn, forgot my amp.' still makes me laugh though.

and finally, this amp kicks serious booty. i'm lov'in it.

Cranked up my 6.0 for the first time tonight at rehearsal. I am VERY pleased with this amp. I had the mids at 10:00 the lows at 1:00 and the paramids at 10:00, treble at noon. All filters off. Great sound. Definitely quite loud. I played thru a yorkville 15B(?) 15" 8 ohm cab, had the gain at 3:00 and the gain vol maxed. Master vol was at 9:00 or a little less. As it was an 8 ohm cab I was getting 375w rather 600w.

Very glad I bought this amp. The LMII will be on 'backup' status from now on... maybe permanently. The amp sounded very 'alive' and not dull in the least. That is not to say it was too bright either... with the mids and paramids cut somewhat, well it just really sounded great to me. Gotta check into that cab too.

I have a gig tonight (since its 12:50 am as I write this) and I'll bring this bad boy and my schroe 1212R and see how it sounds. I'm predicting good things.

Bump for the Shuttle Megathread! I started the first one, long before I actually sold my Neo-Pak and bought my Shuttle 6.0 head.

It seems that the Megathreads have been abandoned for 30 other Shuttle threads.. Let's bring the discussion back here where it belongs!

What a great head.. I've enjoyed mine immensely so far.

Edit: I just checked, and there are now 217 threads returned if you search for "Shuttle" under Amps. Geesh! :rolleyes:

Bravo Michael!

I love my Shuttle 6.0. Sounds just delicious with any/all of my cabs, the Wizzy 10, Wizzy 12, Epi UL210, and AccuGroove Whappo Jr. The basses come to life as well- the new Nordy and the Fender Fretless.

My fave Shuttle rig at the moment is the Epi UL210, with the Nordy. As loud as I need, and such a satisfying solid low end with all the definition and authority I could want.

Not to brag about my gear or anything.... it's the chops that count more than the axe. But this rig has really inspired me to play better.

Yeah, for most of my stuff (playing at church), I only need the 3.0-10T combo, but when I use the head with my SWR Goliath Jr. III 2x10 at 4 ohms, that 300W head can rock a good size venue!

I'm also for getting all the Shuttle users to "shuttle" over to this proper Megathread and keep it all in one easy to find place! ;)

My Shuttle is going strong still. I picked up a Bag End D10BX-D and it compliments the Shuttle extremely well. Full range sound and very deep. I typically leave the EQ flat, adjusting only for room variations. The Hi-Drive coaxial driver puts out a lot of highs, and I have to cut the treble some with my EMG equipped Spector fiver, but my passive Fender four strings and fretless Spectorcore 5 love the amp and cab. The cab is a little heavy at ~70lbs, but since the Shuttle is so light, I don't mind the extra weight of the Bag End. This cab blows away most 2x10s and rivals many 4x10s for what it can do. Plus, the shuttle doesn't look so out of place when I place the cab sideways and put the amp on top.

I'm in the market for a new amp. I'm a big Genz Benz fan already, so the Shuttle is most definitely one that I'm looking into as far as a head goes.

Definitely has me interested, especially after the rep had a couple at my local dealer a couple weeks ago. Sounded VERY nice in combo form.

hello

just picked up a shuttle 6.0


my hartke 7000 was louder in a side by side comparison, outside on my front porch!

that is, while the NYC subway train is going by


BUT, the hartke brokeup at high volume, and the bottom fell apart as well.....

the shuttle was tight.....

and believe me, loud enough. I was using a 4x10 Goliath III, 8 ohm, and it did fine

I put a trace elliot 115 1153T 8 ohm cab on the shuttle, with the GIII, and the volume rose a little bit.

you could tell the 6.0 was putting out higher watts, at 4 ohms.

now, played for about an hour, at a pretty hi volume, and the 6.0 didnt get hot at all, not even warm


and, I dont know how this thing, even with 8 ohm 4x10cab , even only running 8 ohms, isnt loud enough, .....


I am very impressed, and the options like aux in, effects loop, tuner out, headphone out....great options.

AND, if you really need more power, get another and put thhem together, you can do that right?

the fact that you can carry it in one hand, that is just the icing on the cake....

Congratulations to the Genz Benz crew for their killer review in BP this month! Seems like the 8" combo was a huge hit with them. And still I can't find them! Saw a couple heads at Bass Central, but not the combos.

I've had my Shuttle 6.0 for a while now, and finally got to try it out with a full band just today. Next weekend I have some gigs lined up, but today it was rehearsal.

I was _very_ happy. Paired with my Avatar 2x12, the Shuttle was a marvel. I kept making everyone pick it up just to see how light it was. Most of them were non-plussed, though my drummer seemed impressed. Silly non-bass players.

The tone was fantastic. Deep and punchy, and very articulate. I had the treble boost button on the whole time, and switched the other two in and out, though I found them to be a bit too extreme, at least for what I was doing. I think the bass boost button could be useful, but the mid-scoop not as much. I futzed with it a little bit but ended up settling in on a slight bass boost on the EQ, a tiny dip in the high mids, and the treble boost button on. (I really like the treble boost. It doesn't sound zingy, clangy, hissy, or harsh. It just adds some really nice clarity. That, or I need new strings).

My Warwick sounded really nice. I wish I had brought the P-bass... maybe next time.

What DON'T I like? I'm not a huge fan of the "Signal" light. I guess it never bothered me on other amps because they're a little more discrete, usually as a green or red LED that was tiny and not that bright. But ALL of the LED's are SUPER bright and VERY blue, and it was a little distracting if I was facing my amp. That's really not a huge deal, but I have to find _something_ that I don't like.

Like it's been mentioned before, I may have to take a sharpie or something to the knobs - they're pretty hard to see if I don't have a ton of light available, and I haven't played on much stages where there would be enough to really be able to see these knobs. I don't tweak my settings during a show usually, but it would be nice if they were more visible. I played a large church this weekend, and was pretty bummed because they take everyone direct (even guitars :eyebrow: through PODs) and use in-ears for everything. It was actually a pretty slick setup, but I couldn't use my shiny new amp. :(

Overall, though, I'm very happy. Amid a raging guitar, keys, horns, vocals, and a drummer with only one setting (****ing loud), I had no problems with power or tone. Good stuff!
