Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

Don't eliminate the Focus SA if you are just looking for a lightweight power amp without pre. Many confuse the voicing of the preamp of the full featured Focus/Clarus amps with the power section (the SA is the power section minus the preamp). The Focus SA KILLS... 800 watts into 4ohms, with massive punch and volume, and safe 2ohm operation.

I agree that the voicing of the pre of the AI stuff is more fine tuned to a warm organic vibe, and is targeted more toward DB players.

If your opinion about 'lightweight amps' is based on just plugging in an EB to an AI head, that is quite misleading IMO. They sound great, but are not voiced to punch and growl like some others, including I assume the GB stuff.

Just based on my one experience owning a Clarus SL, I agree. When I plugged a Sansamp into the effects return of the little thing, bypassing the preamp, I suddenly had a full-on SVT. Or so it sounded to me ... Nice and punchy, with all the character of the Sansamp.

That being said, I still like the idea of owning two Shuttle 6.0 heads ... nice redundancy, as Jason mentions.

Although two of them is pretty much overkill for my needs at this time. But a Shuttle 3.0 and a NeoPak serve sort of the same purpose at the lower wattage level, and give me a choice of similar output levels with different preamps (FET and tube). That's what I have now, along with my trusty GBE 600. :)

+1.. not trying to talk you out of the Shuttle, just clearing up what seemed to be some mis-information.

Wow, I love how one persons OPINION is considered "mis-information" while anothers OPINION is "truth" :eyebrow:

How about.... "my experience differs" or "I personally found it to be punchy"? Is it really necessary to insinuate that I am mis-leading someone and/or lying?

Ok, any online store have these in stock or backorder? No store around me carries Genz Benz gear :(

Musician's Friend doesn't even have the Shuttle 3.0 in yet, and some people already own these. Anywhere other online store in the US going to have these or already have them? Looking for the Shuttle 6.0.

Damn...just sent an email to Woodwind & Brasswind (Which is also Music123....which in turn is also owned by the same company that owns Guitar Center and Musican's Friend....it's all very confusing sometimes:hmm:) about both the Shuttle 3.0 and the 6.0 and they replied:

We're sorry but at this time we have no information on when we might get these new Genz-Benz products in stock.

I'm ready to buy NOW!

Guess the waiting continues.

Contact the stores where the guys on here bought theirs and I'm sure you'll be accomodated. I believe it was posted that the 6.0's are shipping this week.

Contact one of the retailers on the GB site and ask if they will ship you one. I know that Corner Music here in Nashville has a 3.0 / 110 combo in stock right now.

The 3.0s are in stores, and some retailers are getting the 6.0s next week!

I ALWAYS avoid these big internet stores for anything of any size or price. Call a local dealer with a reputation for treating their customers. Corner Music is a great place to start.

The Shuttle 3.0, complete with retina-searing blue LED's. This head driving a Neox112t, fed by a fretless Stingray 5 is pretty magical.

Same thing with the Shuttle back in its combo chassis, 300 watts into an 8" and a 12". Pretty cool, very loud!

+1 ... Liam, I am dying to get your take on the 3.0 by itself and then with the 112.... Mine is pretty impressive for what it is stand-alone and if I can get support for my G.A.S., I might justify the 112 Neox in my own mind... and then, who knows.... LOL!!

FYI, Low Down Sound (www.lowdownsound.com) is now a GB dealer and from what they told me, they have a few 6.0's, NEOX 212 & 112's coming in soon.
(I am not related to them in anyway, other than they are about 1/2 mile from my house- bad, VERY BAD!!!)
