Don't eliminate the Focus SA if you are just looking for a lightweight power amp without pre. Many confuse the voicing of the preamp of the full featured Focus/Clarus amps with the power section (the SA is the power section minus the preamp). The Focus SA KILLS... 800 watts into 4ohms, with massive punch and volume, and safe 2ohm operation.
I agree that the voicing of the pre of the AI stuff is more fine tuned to a warm organic vibe, and is targeted more toward DB players.
If your opinion about 'lightweight amps' is based on just plugging in an EB to an AI head, that is quite misleading IMO. They sound great, but are not voiced to punch and growl like some others, including I assume the GB stuff.
