Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

I'm really not talking about cabs here. Any amp will sound
like thunder with a huge box, with an 18 in it.
As was stated, the LF button boosts between 38-67hz.
Thats great, but its also uncontrolable. You can't just
add a little. Many great amps eq the lows at 40 up to 60hz.
Many of us need an amp that works with a variety of boxes,
not just "the right" box.
Untill people start using the 6.0, its just all speculation and
brand bias. I have great hope for this whole line of gear.
I really like the Genz Benz guys. Good company!

Well, it's really hard to talk about the low end of amps without at least assuming that a cab is involved, right? ;)

Let me edit my response: I have used many GB products with many different cabs and never found it lacking low end. I have tested the 3.0 with a variety of cabs and not found it lacking low end. I have never used any GB product with an 18 in cab, only 12s, 10s and 15s. It is possible, if used with the "wrong" cab, that any amp could seem to lack low end.

Sorry I wasn't more specific with my initial answer, but I felt it was sufficient given that your initial question was based on internet hearsey. I think, once you actually played with some GB gear yourself, you'll be satisfied with the low end.

Forgot to add: I was also a bit skeptical about the shaping buttons, since I think that the adjustability of this feature on the 750 and 1200 is fantastic. I'm sure that size limitations is the reason for not adding the knobs on the Shuttle series. When I tested the 3.0, I did find the settings useful despite the lack of adjustability.

There's always a compromise when drastically reducing the size on electrical equipment.

I walked in to a store today to get strings and behold, the GB rep was in with the shuttle 3.0/8 inch combo. Very cool little unit. Sounded cool for an 8 inch. I pulled a Peavey Pbass off the wall a had at it. Then I asked if he had a 410 to drive ...he said no and I said I did and went and pulled in the Uber. That little 3.0 drove it quite well. I think we were all amazed at what it did.

Corner music shipped today. ...if that is your dealer.

The Bass Place in AZ has them too. Keep in mind I don't know what is called for already. I only know who has shipped in some cases.

No, you're missing something. The LF just adds extends the lows to compensate for rolloff. The Low knob is shelving, and it will boost or cut the bottom to taste. To me, the LF extension adds more feel than it does actual lows.
