Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

I made a comment about being quoted $649.00 for the Shuttle 6.0 with an exclamation "yikes". Not to be misunderstood, I think $649.00 is a very reasonable price for that much power. No complaint intended. I just hope I like the tone. Can't wait to hear it.

JD at Corner Music in Nashville has some arriving early next week, I believe. That's where I bought my Shuttle 3.0 ministack, and when I spoke to him last Wednesday, he said he has two orders of the 6.0's on the way.

Crap... somebody screwed up a photo mockup. Rest assured the DI out is male. AND, it's worng on our website too... how embarrasing to a pro audio guy ;) It's correct in the owner's manual, whew.

Wow. Played the blues gig I've been talking about with the Shuttle 3.0 ministack tonight, and it rocked the house. They did put me through the PA, just a little. The sound guy came up to me afterwards to talk about the amp. He said he wished more bassists had this rig, because it sounded great, didn't overpower the room, and had a really pristine DI. He said he kept expecting the speakers to start to fart out when we cranked it up a bit, especially when I was hitting it hard down low, but it never did.

This little stack is just awesome. The whole range of my bass is reproduced so well. The set had some variety, and no matter what I was playing, from smooth, laid back walking blues, to staccato 16ths, to tricky runs up high, to some dub with the treble cut and bass boosted on the Stingray, it all translated through the amp extremely well. This is going to be a go-to combination for me for a *lot* of gigs.

I'll post some pics later, although you can't see the rig that much. Some RSBL's in evidence, though! Might have some sound to post at some point ... the sound guy recorded a mix of the board and a mic from out in the house, and is going to take a listen to see if it recorded okay.

As an aside ... if you've never played Ben Harper's "Steal My Kisses", do it, if you can talk your band into it. Bass sorta steals the show on that one. What a fun tune, especially on a fretless!

LMAO, I find it a bit "coincidental" that the uber cab just happened to go along for a ride...........oh the things we rationalize to satisfy G.A.S. ;)

Hey man, it was what I'm calling the Shuttle 3.0 ministack, which is the Shuttle 3.0-10t combo, with the Genz 10t extension cab, so two 10" speaker cabs. Same rig as in this pic:

Oh, I forgot to mention any settings I was using at the gig. EQ on the amp: bass flat, treble cut about 2 clicks; semi-parametric mids dialed in to remove something that was bugging me in the room ... somewhere in the high mids. Pre level was at noon, and I started master volume at noon, then noticed that we were playing with less volume than in the rehearsal space, so I turned down to 11:00.

I still can't believe this whole rig, with both cabs and the head, weighs about 33 pounds total. With the bass over my shoulder, combo in one hand and cab in the other, I don't have to worry about how far from the gig I have to park, within reason. Makes life easy!
